How the eskate market was dominated

I dont know… But I wanna know how come boosted and evolve are 99% of what I ever hear about. Youtube forums clones parts accessories.

But why?

Whats the marketing route that won them the omni presence. Where the word boosted board is more present then the word eskate? As most busineses its not because of the crazy propriatory, patented motors wheels or decks… So what is it?

Social proof? Brand ambasitors? The echoed vibe they have in their youtube videos?

Any thoughts or input would be apriciated as I’m sure many of y’all have seen the impact they have had on the sport.

Social media presence.
Sponsoring the right people who as well are social media active and have a huge Follower base.
It’s easy to create a hype with it, hype sells…

There’s an old saying he who advertises the most wins. Okay well that’s pretty interesting they had the biggest amount of money to throw at it. There was also somebody who had big enough balls to go and get that seed money though too.

venture capitalists

Lol this is gonna be the saltiest thread. But yeah it’s all about marketing skill and $$. Don’t know if its a genetic gift or it comes from hard work, but some people are crazy good at generating attention and investor interest.

To bad money and marketing skill doesn’t correlate with engineering skill, customer service, or business ethics. All separate human stat points.

They were one of the first company in this scene, and is also reputed to have a great customer service, it’s like Apple who were one of the first in the smartphone industry, they did it well and now even though they (both) lack the latest technologies in their product, they still have a huge consumer base.

Metroboard began in the early 2000s. Not sure about boosted

Boosted founded 7 years ago. By 3 guys, 2 white and 1 brown. Recipe for success if you ask me

They were first backed by StartX which is a money seeder for people with “connections” to Stanford. Then did a kickstarter which also got them money.

I bent the truth a little there , one guy is asian :frowning:

When I’m riding my board, I often get asked “Is that Boosted Board?” or “Do you know Boosted Board?”. Even my brother asked me if I know about Boosted Board. People not into esk8ing know what Boosted Board is. This speaks a lot about how big their advertisement it.

Diy anything just isn’t going to be the mainstream way. Most people want something they can ride and don’t care too much about the details the way we do. Boosted is just really good at marketing (I’ve seen so many demo events from them and they’ve got ambassadors and get tons of publicity) and quite frankly there aren’t really any other brands like them that are for the masses that have a really good reputation. I mean we have builders like @longhairedboy and @Psychotiller that have a good reputation but they’re not big companies that cater to the masses.

Mainstream customers: I want a board that’s inexpensive but really good and all my freinds ride either boosted or evolves so i’m going to get one of those, maybe used, because everyone has them so they must be good. I got one! Weee! this board is fun!

My customers: I found you online recently and now i hate myself for spending so much money on boosteds and evolves over the last two years and buying and selling boards is getting old and getting upgrades is expensive and my shit keeps breaking and i have to charge every five minutes and i spent even more money on a battery upgrade but the range is still crap, i wish i had just bought one of your dope ass 40 mile customs first, i would have had you put a transformer logo on it so i’m saving my money and hopefully next year i can afford you.
