I don’t want to answer to share holders, or be managed by some money person. At the moment, i’m one dude listening to cool music and taking frequent breaks to ride so i don’t get agitated and make mistakes.
the only problem is i’m squeezing that into 3-4 hours a night and maybe 20-25 hours on the weekend because i still have a day job, and pacing and accepting the work accordingly. If i didn’t, i’d probably start needing those other dudes. But if i got those other dudes, i’d need more space.
Ideally i’d be able to achieve a balance that allowed me to stay smallish but still make a living.
One of my biggest objectives is to work out of my house and be a stay at home working dad. Scaling up to commercial levels doesn’t do that for me. Nobody is going to come with giant bags of cash and keep me in charge, they’re going to have strings. I don’t like strings. Especially myopic, greedy ones detrimental to my brand.

It’s a challenge to do something you love with quality craftsmanship because the cost of living is so high.
There just isn’t enough money in making quality stuff that you can survive doing it, therefore everything has to be crap and the quality stuff is what you do in your spare-time.

yeah i don’t quite make enough in esk8 to cover the luxurious health insurance i need to cover my three ungrateful heathen offspring plus the other dumb shit like gas and power bills and half the house note and child care.
if it wasn’t for that stupid health insurance i could cover my monthly expenses with 5 evolve mods, 3 custom builds, a couple of bioboards and a few random side jobs that usually involve fixing some dude’s battery ar rebuilding thier evolve with DIY parts. I do a lot of shit that never makes it to instagram.
I’d even have time to do more customs and get more active in the community both online and locally which would increase the amount of work i’d get. I’d be able to host more demo parties, all of that.
and i’d probably be able to advertise consistently via social media with more videos and how-tos and all that shit everyone’s always asking me to do but i don’t have time for.
Somebody wanted a twitch stream of my bench. That’s just not going to happen until i can relax a bit, but i’d like to make it a thing one day. When i’m not constantly swearing or being pulled inside by responsibilities such as keeping my four year old from burning down the house.
