HELP NO BRAKES! also can't detect sensors on one motor.

Do you have brakes turned on?

I mean by using reverse throttle as a replacement for brake, it would take more power than the BEMF would supply meaning I ā€œloseā€ the benefits of regen braking

Are you sure the brakes aren’t working? Regenerative brakes don’t work under a few km/h. Once you increase your roll speed they start working.

Generally, when you’re stumped during a troubleshooting situation, the easiest way I’ve found is to begin narrowing it down with known working parts.

If issues follow the motor, then it’s the motor. If known working motors have the same issue then it’s either the ESC or the firmware. If known working motors still don’t brake with the same ESC on rolled back firmware, then the ESC is the issue. So on and so forth.

This unfortunately does mean you’d need access to known working parts.

Or you could go far back as you can to the configuration that last worked most, and go from there.

yes, twice now have I bolted things back together and rode with no brakes, didn’t want to go too fast though because, well, no brakes.

How fast?

Was it at least as fast as a sprint?

the hall sensor issue follows the motor, I know that, I know there’s still some way to get around that until I buy a new motor

the braking issue is exhibited on both motors, also after a side swap.

this VESC has always been on 5.2, the braking issue only happened once I loaded the file from the MakerX website onto here. I’ve since updated to 5.3 via @jaykup custom .bin

I’m not a board shop, sorry. I also don’t have infinite money to just buy 2-4 of everything

have done this about 20 times now. I’m going nuts.

I’d say the speed of your typical jogger

Have you run VESC Tool 3.00, loaded stock 5.2, bootloader first, and then set up everything again?

Then don’t volunteer to beta test firmware.

yes that was me doing it the first 8 times.

I’m sorry? how is this relevant?

I’m confused. You said you got it from Maker-X. Does the regular install from VESC-project also not work?

what do you mean? VESCtool is from vesc-project and the FW file is from MakerX

It’s relevant to your attitude. You’re quick to get snappy about a situation you walked into. Which makes you think less clearly about backtracking out of your current predicament.

Resentment and sass don’t fix boards.

Have you loaded the FW that’s included with the official download of VESC Tool 3.00?

if you’re not helping you’re hindering.

don’t make this a personal attack.

On the DV6 Pro they used different shunt resistors and increased the current limit. They didn’t submit those changes to the VESC-Project so it doesn’t show up as a firmware option in the VESC tool. They offer a .bin file on their website, and recently changed the link to 5.3, but when downloaded it’s actually 5.2 so they made a mistake. Without somene pulling the old firmware with an ST-LINK or MakerX releasing it, I don’t think we can revert.

I also don’t think this is a firmware problem, with any version. I think it’s a configuration/connection issue as I think his board worked in the past with this ESC

yes the board worked perfectly fine until a few days ago.
