There are many ways to build a battery, especially when you have as much space as you do.
Here is one of the ways to build them
There are many good examples in that thread.
In general:
Trim nickel corners especially for the positive pole (some feel it is not necessary)
Use paper rings.
Isolate p groups between them.
Try not to cross balance wires.
Cover exposed conductive surfaces while working on batteries to avoid accidental shorts.
Fuse the charge port.
I am sure I am forgetting something.

A decision on cells and parts needed is what I need right now I guess. If Im ordering cells and bms I need to do it asap
so Ican do 12s5p with a smart bms or 12s7p with a regular bms I take it?
What are the advantages of the smart bms?
From what I see, you have the space for a smart BMS with 12s7p.
A smart BMS among other stuff, lets you see the voltages of individual p groups.
So if a p group starts to drift, you know you have a problem somewhere.
Whatever you do, go for a charge only BMS.

So I will buy the smart bms and 24 cells, Now I need fish paper and a female xt60 connector plus a connector for the battery charge port and a charger.
Can I get this anywhere in one hit?

I doubt it.
I havenât checked the items you need but always buy more that you think you need.
Waiting 1 month for 0.5m of fishpaper or similar sucks.

Tell me about it. I thought I did a smart thing buying a psychotiller and now Im facing the very thing I wanted to avoid.
just please make sure the amp rating on the charge port is suitable for your charger⌠but if you do like @taz suggests to fuse your charge port, weâll all have a funny story to laugh at not a house fireâŚ

Your best option is queens battery at the moment.

The BMS, Fishpaper, Charger, I would purchase on Aliexpress, the shipping to Japan is still quite quick I just bought and received stuff recently.

Thatâs an 10S 42V charger and will not work for a 12S battery, for Japan I wouldnât recommend this type of charger, gets too hot in Summer. Get one with a fan built in.
