HELICAL 4GS drive for matrix truck 59/12 and Pentagram hubs (discussion)

Tell that to my pom gears the have over 6-7k on them and still look brand new. I use my boards for transportation all year round as I don’t own a car. You just need to know how to set backlash correctly and you can forget about them forever.

My motors will burn out prior to my pom gears. Which they have.

Nobody will ever convince @b264 to use pom gears.

But what about solid JB weld gears? @b264
Ok I will stop clogging this thread up now.

My experience is the opposite of yours, I’ve personally had plastic gears break, as have others.

I’m not stopping anyone from buying plastic gears.

two slave gears actual don’t provide gear reduction, it just help increase gear contacts, power will divided into 2 slave gears, then two slave gear into one.

Do the gears come in a pre set alignment or is alignment up to the user?

Forgot to mention, the gear ratio is fixed.
*The gears come in a pre set alignment.
*also, angular contact bearing has directions, the user might get it wrong, so it all will be pre-installed.

Maybe I’ve missed it, but what’s the gear ratio?

59/12 nearly 4.92 gear ratio

deja vu

because steel gear is quite heavy, especially our gear is 20mm widths.

Also, we believe our structure will make the gear drive more durable since we used two slave gears to divide the power from motor.

I agree, this is a super cool concept, best of luck @Ean.esk8 I’m excited to see more from you guys

I love how your hubs look too

These are meant to be mounted outwards right?
I can see massive clearance problems when mounted inwards due to the increased height of the two slave gears.

how hot does it get in there? no melted gear yet?
