I never thought we’d see the day of Frank being validated on this forum… yet here we are

Sometimes it’s good to bust out some of the deep esk8.news lore, just to give the young bucks something to use that search box for.

So maybe we need a hardwired remote that uses radio? And the wire is only so a battery doesn’t die.

All of these things are valid points. Although I’m not really thinking of a wire just freely floating around. In the situations where I’ve seen wired remotes they are tethered with a metal cable for mechanical support and protected by a nylon conduit. They’re robust. It’s very difficult to remove them without tools.
Never-the-less, snagging it and having it ripped out of your hands would be a downside. I tend to use a light grip.

That is what I was imagining too. The issues I outlined are largely ergonomic issues caused by having a cord between you and the board. That will be true no matter how robust the cord/wires are.

That sounds like a downside to me (roadside service, as I described), but I also dont know if I would trust any external panel mount connectors to something as safety critical as my throttle, so maybe a permanent install would actually be preferable.

At the end of the day, I just dont see the upsides, personally. I’m very interested to hear more about what the upsides would be for you, as I respect that this can just be a difference of opinons/value judgements.

What if we wired the remote and the helmet to the board.

That way, you could have built-in lightning protection along with insurance against dead remote batteries.

And it would also protect you from 5G

Jackson now you’re just harassing me. What’s your deal? Please stop.

Huh? Sorry wasn’t talking to you. What’s going on?

Dude I asked you to move along and then

Trust me, I’m not stupid which is what you are implying. You’re only making yourself look foolish by doing so. This is my thread and by not leaving after I respectfully asked you to leave several times, you’re being a serious dick by sticking around.

That’s what’s going on. You’re being a dick.

And you implied that everyone is just searching to look cool and not thinking rationally about their remotes and we’re all addicted to technology

So?

The comment you made dismissing my point as addiction to technology made me mad and when I’m mad I troll. I trolled you then stopped.

Notice how I wasn’t rude until this:

I replied to your dismissive theory with my own dismissive theory.

That’s not what I’m implying. It was an observation. My conslusion was that there seemed to be pros and cons to both methods. I also never said anything about it being stupid or irrational to like something simply because it gets you off or because it’s cool. Cool things cause increased intrasynaptic dopamine and dopamine is a powerful driver. To me in is very valid and interesting that people like things because they are just more cool or interesting or whatever.

My tech addiction comment may have been poorly worded, but looking back at the context, I’ve got to tell you my intent was not to be offensive but rather to point what I thought could be one valid argument. It was more of a devil’s advocate statement. I never implied that everyone was irrational.

I’ve actually tried my best to be polite about this. Please stop trolling.

I’m done trolling you and this topic

Look at the quote you proffered word for word. Where is the offense?

Thank you.

i agree i’ve seen gt2b cutouts. some have definitely been failing transmitter.

ek8con was a good test env for things My hoyt puck was freaking out buzzing a lot of the time. (that’s a warning that some other remotes are gonna cut. )

And I got a cutout on Morgan’s board with a hoyt puck, first time i’ve ever been around a hoyt cutout. Morgan mentioned several others having hoyt cutouts.

I got cutouts in the city with the OSRR. in that case hampered by carbon fiber faraday cage of enclosure and deck. but sitll the puck never cut out on that setup.

I think this is the largest number of vehicles using this one radio frequency in one place ever besides maybe some RC car/plane events. Maybe there is limit to how many of these things you can have in one place even with the best tech. There’s only so much bandwidth on any given frequency range.

It would have been interesting to bring some testing equipment and see what kind of interference there was
