[Group Rides] LA / OC / SD - On Going

Any updates on the comicon run?

I’m pretty good with the downtown area, I could set up a route for us but I feel like @Arzamenable knows more. Here’s the thing though, the cops tend to become aggressive during Comic-Con and I almost got my board confiscated last year.

Doing what? They are legal to ride on bikepaths and streets. Im not trying to ride among the crowds and shit

I got you guys, I know the place inside out

I was zooming through crowds of people.
The walkers had a designated isle way, but people still choose to walk in the streets. It was my right of way, and no I did not run anyone over. I did cautiously proceed, and was constantly braking.

That’s usually what we call a dick move. You need to ride respectfully through crowds. If you want to ā€œzoomā€ a crowd is not where you want to be.

That was last year, I’m a changed kid, lol.

I was at the pride festival. It was packed, way more packed then I thought it would be. Did you join the parade?

-_____- I’m glad they got mad at you, they should, they are doing their job. Like Mike said pls be respectful and give room. I know you said you changed but yknow, we are the ones that represent our hobby. We need to set a GREAT example by wearing helmets, following traffic rules the best we can, and riding smart.

We CANNOT be grouped in with the electric scooter riders or any of that silly Bird gang. We are a different breed and I have good reason to believe that as long as we keep our practices right we will not get lumped into the electric scooter category of noobs.

That aside, can’t believe I just found this thread! I will definitely be joining in on some of the rides in the future. Hard to believe I have been in the hobby for over two years now and still haven’t done a real group ride yet.

So the bedroom is public? Sorry. Sometimes I can’t help it.

Hey guys, listen up.

Sunday 11-1, group ride in downtown for comicon. Recommend parking in fashion valley then taking the trolley to the Gaslamp quarter where we will all meet in front of the hard rock hotel. SoCal legend will be hosting his own group ride from 11-4 if anyone wants
To join them. We will probably go charge our boards at liberty station in Point Loma then head back to Gaslamp quarter where we will cruise around 3rd, 4th, and 5th street. Bring your chargers! The day will be really busy and pedestrian’s love to walk on the street so we must be very cautious. Happy riding.

Thanks for the heads up. Idk about riding with the evolve guys anymore though. Last time they ditched half the group (the DIY guys to be more precise) and Joe wouldn’t even respond to me on FB with a location pin so we could catch up. Seem like some of their heads are getting a little bigger or something idk. I thought I was somewhat tight with those dudes too.

I started esk8ing back in December. I purchased an Exway then an Evolve. I have been working on my DIY build for several months. I expect a few more weeks before it is ready to ride. If there is a difference between production board owners and DIYers where do I fit in? Don’t stereotype. Most people don’t fit them. If a given group has proven to be not the kind of people you want to have a beer with then judge that group on their own merits.

Well I’m riding an exway and a leafboard til my build is put together and I fall back here and there because of the range capabilities of my boards. I’ve rode with the evolve guys for a while but they like to go fast and think they are superior. That being said, I like to stick with the DIY guys because I have something to talk about.

ā€œfastā€ I am usually only 1/2 way into my throttle riding with them when they are maxed out

Faster then others like me who is stuck with a prebuilt that goes 25mph

Lol u right. They think they’re fast and then you can just blow past them

Haah oh and you don’t voltage sag and lose top speed when your battery gets low

@KaramQ Stop it. They are not fast. @Arzamenable is fast… if anything they just know the path well since they ride that same path every single time
