GPS Tracker - What to buy? What works? Who Where & When! [SERIOUS]

i seem to remeber having to push it away from the sd card in order to get the signal working

on bkbs site he had an instruction manual for the light patterns

also the app for it works in any country with any provider

@Anubis @Halbj613 does the sim need to have internet? I have 4 sims with free text and calls I don’t pay for in my VidĂ©otron plan

No, IIRC GPS uses the phone number to validate the device, not the internet.

So I imagine it uses approximate coordinates with cell towers? Anyone with one installed could tell me how accurate it is?

GPS Is satellite based, I think when there is no internet its technically not gps but cell tower based (maybe this might not work? im not entirely sure)

I feel like a GPS tracker might be useful, I’m planning on bringing my board on vacation.

Does anyone know how long the internal battery of the tracker lasts?

Also I had an idea of using the relay control on the tracker to connect / disconnect it from the battery.
The tracker would be powered by the battery in front of the e-switch / loop key and will start charging its battery while you are riding. Then if your board gets stolen, the tracker will work on the internal battery. Once you realise your board has been stolen you can trigger the relay and keep the tracker powered until you find it.
This stops the tracker from draining the battery if it is left for months and you don’t have to worry about remembering to turn the tracker on and off.

A helpful diagram:

Obviously if it gets stolen after you haven’t used It for a while it won’t work but that is less likely to happen.

Can someone tell me how to make an account on the gpsdd app?

Why not just connect the GPS to the discharge of the BMS? That way it wont kill your battery and is always on.
