…i connect my phone to my computer to download anything bigger than 20gb. Otherwise it takes days and no one else in the house can use the internet lol. And that is once again the fastest plan available in the area, about 70mb/s
103gb cyberpunk 2077 in 1 hour is sweet tho
wow mad
i never use a lot of data so fine with what i got
think were getting off topic though
will go with a cheap sim with some good coverage then
i got some @BuildKitBoards trackers and was wondering if the switch is necessary or can it just run off the battery all the time
i assume it doesnt use much power so i dont mind if it means i always got tracking
Time to throw away those Tile trackers!!! Anyone seen what Apple announced today? These will probably work much better given that they use the Apple ecosystem. What are your thoughts?
Over on Samsung’s side we have the smart tags that released with the S21 too
Wanna share your supplier…?
hey I didn’t know that!
Yeah I got one with my phone preorder, they’re pretty neat
Any updates on this? Do they work fine in Europe? Will you be selling them?
I have like 10 of them, they’re not listed on my store but I think they do work in the UK. @Halbj613 got his working on a £1 sim I think, PM me if you want a couple/one
Somehow this thread got me to sign up for an account and make my first post. I have been going down this whole GPS rabbit hole until I had one of those lightbulb moments. Pets. People love their pets and the damn things run off all the time.
Sure enough, there are a ton of GPS and radio tracking options for fluffy with 10-20 day batteries and low (or no) monthly rates. FitBark GPS and Tractive LTE both seem like great options, but there are others. I’ll settle on one when I finish my build and give some feedback, but thought it’d be worth throwing out there for anyone still looking for board tracking.
@Anubis Do you have the included manual with the GPS tracker you sell? Have some questions I could probably answer with it:
- The unit I bought from you only has red and black wires sticking out. I assume that’s for power input, and not the button. Can the power output just come from the board’s battery (30 - 50V), or should I supply it with 12V from a buck? (the one diagram I found on aliexpress does not make sense to me
There is an onboard battery in the unit, and the diagram just made me more confused )
- What are the SMS commands I can send to it to get location data back?
there were no manuals but we did find it on aliexpress, let me get the manual from there
It should be the 100V version, I think you can check by opening it up and looking at the PCB. Should say 9-100V
Yep that’s the one. But where wiring diagram / manual?
super simple
red and black are power leads and should work with any voltage
the switch is inline and not necessary unless you plan to turn the tracker off and on (its latching and is wired like a loopkey)
What about the on/off switch on the PCB?
