Ghosts in the Machines [SRO]

I still don’t understand the bridge incident… could it be from these wires under the bridge?

They’re the only thing I could find from google maps that could be related.

Yep, that’s the one!

It’s possible, that looks like a train line which usually run at 25kV (that’s kilovolts, not motor speed) AC, so if something’s super sensitive it could pick up eddies from it. Kind of odd though considering all the concrete in the way, and it’d be extremely weak to begin with.

Aren’t their crawl spaces in the bridges their not solid I think

uhhhhhhhh

when it happened to me, it was fairly similar to others

i checed my remote and numbers were greyed ou, iirc the rssi was still pretty full, but it kind of behaved like it had no rssi, no input or anything

turning off then back on didnt fix the issue either

that intersection near the skate park was the worst, i ws affected for at least half a block

ya the bridge one was scary cause there were cars

it’s really strange tho, cause SF has a fair amount of cables for electric transportation, and i’ve never seen it happen before

plus we would have noticed something since were were on the trains that used the cables that are suspect

Was anyone running logs at this point? Any logs y’all want to share?

All the logs that have been posted via robogotchi don’t seem to indicate anything.

What day and time (approx) was the bridge incident?

Uhhh. It was right after we left the pump track at Gateway Green. I dont really know what time that was.

Edit: Oh wait! Photo timestamps to the rescue!

It was sometime between this pic at the Gateway Green @14:30…

…And this pic at the top of Rocky Butte (our next destination after Gateway Green) @16:07.

It was probably closer to the second picture than the first, since I don’t know how long we stuck around at Gateway Green after that first picture. So I’m going to guess like 15:30 for the ghost attack.

I found the incident from Carve PDX 2021, same board, same thing as the bridge incident, same data in the robogotchi

@frame you’re in HK right? Are VESCs as absolutely unusable and dangerous as @Stealther keeps implying?

Seems crazy to me that they’d have issues at every stop light.

Yeah, I would love to hear other’s input on this as well.

I also am still on the fence, because with as common as those traffic sensors are you’d think this would have been reported before.

Then again, we only saw it on specific models of stormcore.

we don’t have those coils at the stop light because our traffic light for cars stays green unless there are people who need to cross.

also, i’ve used a vesc board at the end of a airport runway (outside airport area), signal were fine.

i’ve had one remote cutout only since i got into esk8, and it was a vx1 which had the antenna stuck between the shell gap, easy fix for me.
