Also could anyone help me and explain how to remove the red heater wire

Popping sound is moisture. 100%. Trust us. Pop that in the oven at 50degrees Celsius for an hour or so. It won’t do anything to the plastic so it’s safe to do that in the oven.

As for the hotend. Heat the hotend and while it’s 245C try to remove it.

For removing the thermocouple remove the screw next to it. And push the sensor out. If it’s not budging then heat the heatblock with a small blow torch.

The hotend ain’t budging I think @skunk is right and it has rusted together

I will try putting the plastic in the oven and see either way ordered the new upgraded hotend but and will try using that tomorrow or the day after thanks for the help guys

Or it is filled with plastic?

Same thing happend to our cr10 you need to upgrade the nozzle

Those things are made of aluminum if I am not mistaken. They don’t rust. I think it’s because of burned plastic stuck between threads…

This is exactly it, if you dont take care of it @Halbj613 it will happen and the only real fix is just replacing it

The other real fix is heating the whole thing with a blow torch so that you purge everything except metal.

So here is the hotend after the wires were removed

Should I soak in acetone overnight

Don’t own a blowtorch so sadly that won’t work

What do you mean plastic got in between the threads

It’s only a couple of dollars or pounds on AliExpress. Just get replacement ones. It’s not worth it.

Yeah thats what we did but it only delays the samething happening again

So I ordered a new e3d upgraded hotend which comes with those sock blocks to prevent this from happening and a new nozzle so hopefully it should work

So I ordered the new nozzles and heat block and then 10 minutes later my dad gets home sticks the nozzle over a gas stove and burns the nozzle right out he got rid of tons of junk from out and I tried again with a roll of abs it is definitely feeling smoother but the popping still remains

I will replace the nozzle and if it still doesn’t work ( I have also put the filament in the oven) then I will use my new heat block

Thanks for the help everyone

For 10 mins? That’s not going to do anything. You need to put in there at super low temp. Like 60C for ABS for at least a couple of hours. Popping sound is moisture in filament. It has got nothing to do with nozzle or heat block?

So I left it in for an hour at 50c (pla) and then my mum told me to take it out cause she doesn’t want it in the oven overnight.

Tomorrow morning I will put it in before I go to school (7.30am) and take it out when I get back (4.15pm) so it will be in for a long time

That should be ok?

Also can I put multiple rolls in at once

And doe sit make sense that around 10 different rolls of filament that I have are all full of moisture

I dont know the first thing about 3d printing but will someone be home to watch the oven? Dont want to piss your parents off :man_shrugging:

Yeah my mom is at home on Wednesdays and think the cleaner is here so should be ok

Can I put in lots of different rolls at once though

my suggestion for ‘moist’ filament:

get a storage tub, and a bag of the crystal-type kitty litter. dump the litter in the bottom, and store you filament in there. every couple of months (or month in a humid environment) cook the crystals in the oven spread out on a cookie sheet at 250F for about 2 hours. let it cool before dumping back into the tote

Dude, you are suggesting to use temp which is above the glass transistion temp. That’s not good for the filament.

Edit: ah you are talking about baking kitty litter.
