G-bomb bracket builds

The only problem I had was not being able to tighten the sandwich enough to prevent the rear truck from slipping along the drop bracket w/o breaking the curved plastic spacers. 3 people, myself included, only skated a grand total of about 20 miles on this build before I disassembled it. I understand that flex is engineered into the G-bomb brackets… They were intended for LDP, lightweight precision trucks, not heavy DKP + motor plates + motors. I’m reassembling with lighter TI motor plates, will eventually finish, enjoy some of that intentional flex. I don’t think they’ll break, they just feel kinda spooky as they flex. Divorcing clamping duty from one of the rear truck screws will help stop slipping + I may use some loctite on the sliding surface.

@emaxon Do you have the metal brackets or the plastic ones?

Plastic. I didn’t want to spend the extra $$ on the aluminum at the time, wish I had. I may end up trying Idea’s machined drop brackets for the final build, if there IS a final build. I mainly wanted to experiment with the Beercanboards Aluminum deck + securing the enclosure w/ shock cord, (both of which worked great BTW.)

Ive got some IDEA brackets in alu i might be open to selling if you want them? Theyre the 20mm drop ones.

Ac53n, I appreciate the offer. Those are pretty sweet. I ended up buying a set of the very well-priced Loaded brackets, which were apparently a collaboration (mild customization) of the G-Bomb composite deep drop brackets I had. All they did is do-away with the angle adjustment. I rebuilt the board with these, looks much slimmer + trimmer, will stay put. I feel the added beef around where the truck mounts will hold up much better than the adjustable version. I gather these are supposed to flex… I’m going to see if I can learn to enjoy that if I ever (re)finisht this build. I’ve been going crazy with more channel truck builds, looks like it’ll be a while.
