When it disappears, does tapping the screen (if mobile) somewhere in the thread bring it back? Mine disappears a lot when I click on it but reappears if I tap any blank area of the thread.

Nope it only appears after backing out, or going somewhere else i.e your profile and then backing out.
Refreshing might work but thats a hassle to do on the app version.
Ahh yeah I don’t use the app version. Didn’t like that I didn’t have a forward button anymore when I accidentally back out of something.
Chrome forces me to use it. Once i create a shortcut to my Homescreen it automatically converts it to the app
On iOS (unsure about android) swiping from left to right will bring you back forward.

I also only get old topic recommended for some time.
It just stops randomly and gets current topics back in there again. Currently it’s been for 2-3 days straight.

We’ll be testing things this week to see what the improvements are. One early bummer is that the 502 errors remain, but Wan’s fix has that under control anyway.
To anyone interested, the idea is that since the 502 errors stem occur mainly on large threads, we’re going to having monthly threads for the really busy areas like “pictures only” and “noob”, with each expired month archived and searchable.
Should have no effect on useability.

i view it as a workaround until we fully understand the core issue. @admins - do we have access to a performance dashboard like splunk that can help us identify where the issues are arising?

The only way forward. Good workaround. Its a memory issue so until we can self fund some more then this is a good fix. Having spent some inordinately boring time on the discourse forum that was the ultimate conclusion. It is only going to get worse as we grow so some good old fashioned marketing/begging for more patreon funds is another step towards a permanent fix.
Have you been in that place Wan? Its eye gouging boring bro and they are really strict on language. I said shit in a post and it was non postable lol. We should do that in here for a day to see what happens
