Flipsky VX4 Case (Pro & Regular) with Finger grooves (3D Printable)

Using a file originally created by @Daada in his thread for a TPU VX4 Pro sleeve case I created a two-piece hardshell case for the VX4 Pro remote with finger grooves. I tested a few designs and this one feels good to me. I have fairly average medium/large hands. I did two different variations - one is using M3 thread-forming screws from McMaster-Carr that I had, and the other uses brass heat-set M3 inserts and standard M3x12 socket head screws. Both versions work great in my testing. I will link everything I used below.

Here is my case hosted on Printables. This includes STL and STEP files for both versions, so feel free to modify any way to see fit. I printed one of mine out of translucent/CF PETG, the other olive green/black PLA+ and did a filament swap for the last few layers for a contrasting color look.

Because of the large fillets coming off the faces of the case, I found it printed cleaner by keeping the outside of the halves facing upwards and using supports on the underside. More material/time but gave me a way nicer finish. For the PLA prints I used PETG as my interface layer with 0 gap and vice versa on the other remote. Supports come off easy and leaves a good underside finish.

EDIT 4/22: I have added a file for the VX4 NON-PRO version with two buttons/no horn button. It is in the Printables link below.

Enjoy :clinking_beer_mugs:

These are the M3x12 Thread-forming screws I used from McMaster-Carr:

These are the M3 brass threaded inserts I used from Amazon - note you don’t need a special tool for installing, you can just press them in with a soldering iron:

Just an FYI and I will update the main thread when I do, but I am working on a case for the regular non-Pro VX4 as well (2-button). Having a couple friends work with me doing test prints because I do not have one on hand, so I am dialing in the final hole placement for the buttons

I printed the pro shell for my non-pro vx4 and I can tell myself that I didnt mind the empty missplaced button holes in the shell. I would call it funktional.
I printed it with supports on the inside, laying down flat. The top came out nice but the lips where both parts touch broke of quite easy. Could be a bit beefier so the lip would be easier to print in this orientation.

I was about 50/50 with that lip not getting ripped off with supports in my tests- I was thinking about looking at beefing it up a bit also, or messing with my support settings to keep them away from it

Printing for ones like me that have not had the time to get into 3D printing (yet)… I would love to take you up on that offer, but I fear that freight to Australia is now prohibitive as I presume (possibly incorrectly of course) that you are US based? Everything else of late I look at from the US the freight is way more than the products!

Where in Aus are ya? I can print one for ya

Noosa area (150km north of Brisbane). Freight would be much better!

Ok sweet i’ll have a crack at the print and keep you posted

Best one I’ve done so far was printing both halves at a 45° angle off the bed but the supports gave it kind of a gross surface finish where they were. Going to see if I can improve that.

TLDR, Do you have the step files posted? I’d love to try turn that fillet into a chamfer

Yes there are step files on my Printables link on the first post. Definitely have at it!

Mark that up as one saved remote so far. First stack with the new case. Plastic screen that protects lcd shattered but have extra one I can steal from other dead unit.

Glad to see it’s able to withstand a bit of abuse!

I have updated the original Printables link above with a file for NON-Pro version VX4, with two lower buttons and no horn button. Enjoy!
