⚔ Flipsky 6374 vs Maytech 6374 vs Ali C6374 (Dickyho motors)

Well I can’t say, I haven’t ridden them

I love my new flipsky motors, and Maytech motors are super powerful but expensive

Could be a good combination

yeah they seemed to do a couple things right with the new ones
curved magnets and the epoxy + they balance them
it seems really good overall

The motors all look just like freerchobby motors. Maybe they’re putting better bearings in them or something but the gen1 and gen 2 flipsky motors were freechobby made and a lot of others like APS use them as well.

They appear to like trampa stuff. So designing channel trucks wouldn’t be surprising. Their YouTube channel has a trampa build with a trampa deck with OBD and fatladz hubs, maybe or maybe not trampa trucks too. Also look at this behemoth of an ESC from that 4wd board.

And if I put on my tin foil hat for some fun speculation, but MBS is bringing out matrix 3’s that are rumored to have ditched the funky hangar shape for something more uniform. As someone pointed out those shock blocks are identical to the current ones in matrix 2’s. Maybe this is a coincidence, maybe not…

Lol are you speculating that these are matrix 3 or that they are a copy of matrix 2

That ESC is massive, probably the biggest one I’ve ever seen in a board haha

I doubt it, but this would be my guess.

Doesn’t the kingpin look a little small to you? Can’t be more than 8mm

I’ve never measured the matrix 2 kingpin, but I believe it is 8mm

Someone wanna rework these to DD’s? 50KV option…

Oh interesting it just looked small in the picture

Would be cool to see lol

Are those rebranded freerchobby motors? :-/

I would list this under the “con” and not a “pro”

Sounds like a “faster to manufacture, at expense of quality” feature

But I’m not a motor manufacture specialist, so IDK

Who knows :man_shrugging:

It says it transfers heat better apparently

IDK what riveting is supposed to mean, but it sounds like an additional process rather than mis translation

These are the same MOSFETs I’ve seen on most 4.12 hardware

They have identical sites images descriptions, so probbably the same company dififferent site.

What exactly is “battle hardened”? Is it merely a marketing term or is it an actual type of measurement backed up by scientific data? I’ve heard the term “battle hardened” many times over but have yet to find any quantifiable explanation of the term. Hoping that you can shed some light as you use it in your review. Thanks.

“Battle hardened” just means that the magnets are surrounded in epoxy in addition to being glued in the can. This makes the magnets less susceptible to fall out in impacts, and retain fragments better if they crack. I believe this term was coined when people did it in battlebots to harden their robots against damage.

This is an example of a can that has been battle hardened. Note the white epoxy between the magnets.

It basically means that you’re making the motor more durable.

Usually this involves coating the magnets and their connections to the can in epoxy, so if the motor can hits something, it doesn’t break off magnets and cause a big problem

and yes @frankthedragon they do still do this in battlebots, Robert Cowan has a good video about it. In fact, they use VESCS in a lot of bots now

The other day, Copperhead had problems with HFI not working partway through the match.

From what I read it is a mod that originates from RC robot fights. People usually do it themselves but since we have been asking for that feature quite a lot, motors company started doing it for us.

Motor manufacturers often try to do the absolute rock bottom bare minimum using the cheapest materials obtainable just so they can put the words “battle hardened” on their marketing materials.

It’s difficult to quantify how good of a job they’ve done.

If you really want a proper battle hardening, doing it yourself is the most solid plan IMHO.
