Here’s a picture of my first attempt at building a 12S5P “trapezoid” pack parallel group. I’m using 10mm x 0.2 pure nickel. I’m wondering if I need to add 2 more connections as drawn in red for ampacity. The cells are Samsung 40T.
My plan after spot welding the nickel is to wrap the groups in shrink cover, fold the tabs down, and solder #10 awg silicone onto the ends as connections between groups and for lead wires.
Yeah hopefully that’s a test group of cells or stock pic but to answer yur question I personally would just go around the outside perimeter for the parallel groups…
But if those are.your pictures then all that over lap onto the ring protector should be cut to fit just the positive terminal… On the negative side its less an issue since there’s nothing to short out on itself…
I would add nickel in your highlighted red areas, and yes, before you proceed, please round the corners of your nickel straps. You can use regular household scissors to do this, it may extend your battery life by preventing shorting due to sharp nickel edges.
Same opinion as Skyart here. Add the nickel, round the corners… potentially you can do more of a radial pattern from where you connect to the parallel group but that would be messy, easiest is to double or triple up on the ‘tip’
