Favorite safety gear?

I’m American and the people who crow about America fuck yeah, usually have never been anywhere else and if they do they are pissed it’s not just like home( why can’t I have a hamburger at 10:30 in a small town in Italy?!)

They are also the ones who are first to try to restrict your freedom if they don’t agree with it. Our rights should end when the infringe on others right, otherwise if it isn’t illegal it’s not my business. Want to wear a furry outfit, what is it to me? As long as you’re a productive member of society go for it.
The arrogance of telling people in a country you know nothing about how America is the best is infuriating and embarrassing.
Luckily when I was in Iceland this year the Young Britts were so obnoxious, they over shadowed any embarrassing American tourists.

Our country is a mess and at a very scary time, I’m hoping we are going to bring back sanity this November. Immigrants like my grandparents made this country the best it could be. I hope to never go out and see everyone is white like me, imagine how much the food and culture would suck,

Damit you got me ranting!!

I stand by my TSG DHP. They’re a great all around kneepad. A little big tho

Replace illegal with immoral and I’m with you, it’s illegal to sleep in your car in a lot of states but that definitely isn’t my business either.

Sorry, I didn’t mean to get to ranting but I totally get you.
Let’s get back to safety gear now.

I really like anything Leatt really, the 3DF range is a bit pricy but the slip on kneepads are the most comfortable I have ever had although you can only wear them with shorts.

Yea man, I’ve taken a bunch of falls on these. They definitely work and have saved me from bruised hips a bunch!

I use the hip protection on my leading hip for riding trails and group rides on the onewheel.

One of my best friends is a “sponsored” by them.

“Rockonblonde” is good for a 10% discount on their website.

Good point,I stand corrected,i spent a year at least sleeping in my car and smoked weed my entire misspent youth. Sorry for off topic is my gift,at least it’s a thread I started for once so I’m not :poop: on anyone’s thread as per typical, don’t mind me back to safety lads !

What’s y’all’s opinion on wrist guards vs slide gloves for lower arm protection?

I picked up some 187 wrist guards since I’m spending more time on the popsicle board but am now wondering if they’d be better for esk8ing too

My experience is with hillbilly wrist gloves guards, I have a steel left wrist and they have saved me but as others have said wrist guards leads to broken fingers,it is a priority thing, to me,I’ve broken all my fingers, and they heal ok, but my wrist had to have 2 plates and 11 screws.

I think a broken wrist is worse than a broken finger, although my broken thumb (X3) has limited movement and I can’t manage a thumb throttle now and its huge and arthritic

Edit, hey I posted on topic! I’m so proud of myself, also I’m 4 cosmopolitans deep and I’m man enough to drink a woman’s drink so I do not want to hear shit,I like pink things :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I’m looking at getting more beefy upper body protection especially for rib coverage and have narrowed to

Alpinestars bionic v3
https://www.amxsuperstores.com.au/products/alpinestars-mx24-bionic-tech-v3-jacket-black-white-red

Leatt 6.5

Leaning towards the Alpinestars

Anyone had experience with either/both of them or other opinions?

i’ve taken some hard spills at 35mph+ with my bionic v2 and came out pretty much unscathed. i’d trust the v3 as it appears to have even more padding /protection in the chest area. i will admit that i haven’t been wearing it that much, usually to test new setups pretty ride with cars for long durations.

I love my bionic action v2. Taken multiple falls in it, and haven’t gotten so much as a bruise.

Whatever option you go with, I highly recommend plastic pads. They allow you to slide out a fall, where cloth based armor could catch on the ground and cause you to roll. And/or is less durable.

I rock flatland carbon gloves with a puck sewn onto my non-remote hand. Mostly useful on track, where ive been able to stop a fall by pushing off the ground. When bailing, the slide puck is super duper nice to be able to have. However, the integrated wrist protection in the glove has saved me too. The cloth of the glove isn’t the most durable, but it’s more lightweight then more durable gloves and first my hands really well.

Also, +1 for Leatts dual action. I’ve slid out multiple 25+mph falls on my knees, and they still have tons of life left in them.

I have crashed the Leatt a few times above 40 mph but I had other gear on, I only have good things to say

How is the Alpinestars in terms of mesh between the pads, especially around or between shoulder and elbow?
I really like the Leatt 3DF something something I have but I fear the mesh is not really made for a few spills and I sometimes think I have to be extra careful to not accidentally tear it when putting it on.

I haven’t been able to find it locally to see myself, but yeh mixed reviews on the mesh on the alpinestars - but doesn’t seem to be a major issue if you’re careful getting it on.

Thanks for the input folks.

i don’t have any tearing in my mesh yet. had around 5 falls so far wearing it, 3 low speed, two high speed.

Cheers mate appreciate that info on the mesh

Thanks all think I’ll go with the bionic v3, higher grade l2 pads on shoulders and elbows too, and a bit more everywhere else. And looks a bit less Robotech chunk than the Leatt.

The mesh definitely won’t hold up against sliding against asphalt.

However, the pads/straps are very well designed. They’re well placed, and don’t shift during a crash. So the likelyhood of the mesh contacting the ground is pretty low

Time for a new lightweight lid for the warmer months.
