@MoeStooge

That’s awesome to hear! thanks bro! I think it would be a good idea to sit down soon so we can get a day reserved asap.

I just got back from the track. I got some info for us.

the track is getting resurfaced and they are changing the layout somewhat. but they are not adding a whole new section. they are adding another straight away in the middle of the track. so there will be an option the run the whole track or run it without the whole “infield” as he put it.
that’s kind of cool just in case you guys felt it was too long and gives us some options.

they are running drift cars there today and tomorrow. I talked to the guy at the gate and he told me as much as he knew ,but said the main guys will be there for the race tomorrow they are holding a 24hr drift race. so ill go check that out and talk to the main man then. if any of you can make it that would be sick! its 10$ entry fee.

as far as when we can set a date. He said other clubs in the past were reserving days over a year in advance to make sure they got what they wanted. like a specific holiday weekend or what not. but that was pre covid bs. So as soon as we sit down to iron out the details we can set a date and work on promoting it from there.

as far as track rental rates. the more we go the cheaper it gets. they offer incentives if we were to set up regular events whether it be a full race event or a practice day track rental. this is where we will talk to him and find out more.

The condition of the track surface right now is not the best for a track. but then again its about the same as riding the streets around my house just with more rubber everywhere. I think it will be amazing with a fresh surface.

@kook I got some pics and vids for you. sorry about the quality my ipotato did its best.

The track doesn’t look terrible as it sits… But definetly worse than the last time i raced there…

Your first pik is where the dirt to street transition comes in, and that section is always hacked up…

Thanks for doing the leg work!

I feel if we could get Adam’s in Riverside and Grange on the calendar for next year it would be awesome…

But I’m running up against the 1000 again right now, just like last year, so I’ll be pretty much outta pocket the whole month of Nov.

RipTide will kick in at least $200.00 towards the track rental, any other sponsors out there want to contribute?

it looked ridable for sure. No problem it was fun going out there again and I was like 15 min from the track anyways.
I will advise you guys about the road out there though.
it is a little bit off a paved road. its sorta paved most of the way but all fucked up. a small car would make it but I would suggest a truck. its only like the last mile and a half or so that sucks. ill take some pics of the road tomorrow.

ya id like to see what you guys had in mind and see what we can put together. I’m down to help get this organized.

@MoeStooge and @kook
you know how you said you were having issues where they denied you access because of the insurance liability?

Have you thought about creating a NON profit Organization. operating completely by volunteers and members. Legit on paper ,Call it a race club or whatever you want BUT with a membership fee. the fee would allow us to carry our own liability insurance policy. (disclaimer: I’m no insurance nerd) but I think we would have a better chance at getting into other venues if we solved the liability issue. it would have to be thought out a bit more and confirmed with the tracks we are wanting access to as well as find a policy carrier that will take us serious . but what do you think?

i found this about general liability as it relates to sports and recreational organizations.

The premium is typically based on the number of participants or teams and the length of the season or activity. Rates are established for each type of sport or recreation activity based the loss history of similar groups. The specific loss history of the organization may also be taken into account.

I wonder if the evolve bois had to get insurance when they did their little races I saw online. remember the ones where they thought they were all going soooo fast.

i remember seeing that and thinking GAAAAAYYYYYYY

here is a better video of the track.

there is also a dirt section they used to use for super moto. it might be an option to have a dirt section.

for a car this is not a very wide track. it was not designed for cars. we will find out if they plan on widening the track when they resurface, but as it sits we can race 3-4 wide no problem.

Debatable.

The short tracks hurt my squatting parts and make me consider just getting into RC cars.

I’m in for March if we aren’t dead by then.

I would have to agree. I think the bigger track has advantages. We can fit more people on the track at once. People would be able to spread out easily or race 3 wide safely if they chose to do so.

I think we are going to try and get on the track to figure that out before race day.

@kook @MoeStooge @RipTideSports

check out the format of this racing association. they have a page explaining the insurance in detail. they charge a yearly 175$ fee and all applicants must be approved through the insurance. I would have no problem paying 200$ a year for access to race multiple venues and events. some of us spend thousands on our boards as it is. I think it would totally be worth it to be able to race on tracks and closed coarse roads. this would also allow us to pull permits to hold races in public areas.

modeling a racing association after something like this would also enable other regions to organize and create races at their local tracks by joining our association. it would be covered under the same insurance policy nationwide.
having an organization like this would also enable us to have a company bank account for things like track rental payments. or track lighting rentals?
I think that would be a great way to push the industry and get people racing.

keep in mind I’m not looking to make a dollar off of anyone here. in fact I will probably end up paying into this adventure much more than most of you.
sometimes its better to make a good friend than a dollar. plus this is just my hobby. and as you can see I take my hobbies entirely too serious. Go big or go home lol.
