definitely it would take alot of practice runs, esc setting changes , foot and weight positioning practicing to really get it down right on a track.
its habbening
im convinced if this industry is going to grow in racing it is going to take some ambitious people to rally together the right manufactures for a national series of races. getting into venues is not easy and takes money. it takes sponsors and a lot of planning!
short track racing is a lot easier to find a venue to make it possible and your best bet for local races regularly. meanwhile long track racing is a whole other venture financially (and isnt realistic to hold the events as much as intro to speed) , but well worth the money if you surround yourself with the right people. there are plans in the future to do much more. so hopefully this rona restriction stuff goes away so we can get the permits necessary to race where we want.
our best bet for large events are going to be races with downhill guys. they already have things in place such as a format, insurance, permits, sponsors, safety crew… the list goes on. there are a lot of considerations to take place if we are to do this successfully! I’m always down for an outlaw style race ,but if we are ever going to bring in some decent series sponsors so that this can sustain itself we have to be legit.
also I noticed something about this industry. it is so small it does not have distributors like the rest of the skate industry or most industries. I think distributors like Voltaic will greatly help in getting product to consumers and create demand for racing in doing so.
Just uploaded Drop: my life downhill, a movie from 2010 that shows how the stand up downhill scene got big. You can’t buy or watch it online anywhere so I figured I’d upload, definitely a cool watch and some things to learn from https://youtu.be/8Gr6j_SV97E
Today: SRB RACE TEAM - MOE/BRAD/MARIO/BRANDON/DAVID/JASON 25.04.2021 - 11pm Paris / 2pm Pst #63 - YouTube
Good watch, always lots to learn from. Also really sorry to hear what happened to your friend @MoeStooge , my condolences
@bigboytoys Derek Maseuli lost his life due to head trauma shortly after this post. He was a good good soul. Use a helmet that applies to what you are doing.

Last night in NYC we finally began racing! Mostly it was to test out a track design as well as this new Laptiming system. The night went great! I think we have an opportunity to start something big here in NYC.
Hell yeah.
I can definitely recommend that em after everyone gets used to the right turns, change up the track! You can only have so much fun on a T track
Thats what I was thinking when making this track, I wanted a good amount of heel and toe side turns. I already have sooo many ideas on how to make the track even better for saturdays race
no point in long straights (its just about the board in a long straight not the rider)
short straights are fun to see who is willing to smash the throttle (as long as people dont have bindings)
otherwise a mix of turns (some sharp 180s or some softer 90s or so )
thats my idea at least
I would argue that making it somewhat about the board too makes sense
“Long” straights would allow those with more speed to do well
yeah but i feel like once you have long straights, the guy with a 25mph board is not gonna win
i see what you mean though but it only works if everyone has reasonably good boards
I mean realistically who is racing with a board that can only do 25
The new hurricane and zeus go over 30
Once you start getting into lengths that let riders get over 40, then yeah, I get what you’re saying
