We call it slow-cal. But, NorCal races? I might show up somewhere to watch. I’m sure some locals will be going to race tho.
this time around all these events are too far for me to be the usual spectator
not too far… but far too busy… I’m going to miss Dump Rd. and Barrett…
is a four letter word…
Have not been in contact with SKUSA since Lancaster. We parted with intentions of esk8 being on the ticket for 2020.
regarding alleycat racing in san francisco (btw i got 1st place once and organized a couple)… one of the largest turnouts ive ever seen for one of those events wasn’t a race at all it was a group ride from ice cream store to ice cream store… promoted inclusivity by downplaying the racing aspect
one of the alleycats i organized was called “get to the chopper” - and the finish line was a helipad in sausalito with a helicopter waiting for the 1st male & 1st female
Within the next year I think I’ll have a prototype Race bay par my comments above…
I’m working on having a sheet metal enclosure made…

I dont know if I am in the right thread but
Theres a esk8 races in dc that has been postponed so I am going to be able to make it.
I have a few questions about what I should do to make my setup race ready.
12s5p
Haggy wheels
18/60
Dual 170kv 6380s
heXLs
Redember Bludgeon
Focbox unity
What should I do to be more races ready?
4wd?
Bigger battery?
Bindings?
Also any tips on what to prepare?
Ermm not sure why I’m tagged when the real racers @MoeStooge @Arzamenable where tagged But hey
What type of race is it? Short track like K1 Speed? Distance/Cannonball track? Long track?
Lipos are what all the top racers run. That includes Mike, Moe, and everyone running Stooge Raceboards. They put out more torque until longer in their discharge curve. You can also pull more amps from them They are also hot swappable for multiple races that are one after another.
4wd will give you enough torque to throw you in front of people off the line and allow you to accelerate through corners faster and brake later into the corner. This leads to much faster corner times and makes you faster. The only 2wd I have seen capable of the same thing as 4wd is Moe’s setup, but I’m guessing a whole new board is not an option
Everyone racing is moving to bindings from what I have seen. They allow sharper corners at low and high speeds. They also allow you to accelerate more without losing traction with your feet since you are strapped to the deck.
To give actual specific feedback you will need to say the type of race it is (as I showed at the start) and maybe your budget for upgrades… @yelnats8j
It is an Uphill race
How long in between laps? How long is the race (miles wise) and what’s your “upgrade” budget?
Well I have the mounts and motors for 4wd so Id say 400 - 600$
Do you have any spare focboxes? (I believe you said you did…) because if so you might as well put 4wd on.
I would recommend either some Powerhobby 4s 10000mah lipo’s (made into 12s) and a fast Lipo Charger or a big fast charger for your liion pack. You don’t want your pack to get low because the cells will sag hard and amps that you can put out is lowered a ton. You could also put a bigger liion batt in it.
are these what you are talking about?
I got an extra unity just need another set of haggy pulleys
I would go 4wd then.
3x of these and a fast lipo Charger could be very nice. You could easily top your pack off in between rounds. I’m not sure if HoSmall.club is legit but this is straight from Powerhobby
Bindings are what everyone is moving towards for racing at least. Something like F5 foot strap and No heels are what Moe uses.
I would wait and see what Moe and Mike say though.
How fast is the course/competition? If you are going 4wd I’d up that motor KV for higher speed. 200kv would still rip and get you closer to 40mph. Getting into the mid to high 30s you’ll want to balance those wheels to take out some vibration.
