Esk8 confessional

Sold! i’ll even drive to home depot with you and pay for a second extension cord for back up.

There are some exciting changes evolving in the energy space. IMO there will be a paradigm shift in the coming years where load (your home, car, etc) will also become a commodity in the same way generation is a commodity now. this type of marketplace will facilitate a decentralized generation model where by peer to peer transactions are possible.

e.g Justin’s solar panels are generating more energy than his home (load) requires. Wan’s house next door requires more energy than his solar panels can support. connected devices anticipate the need, negotiate rate, and provide energy exchange, in near real time.

this is not dissimilar to what is already occurring in the utility transmission market but on a smaller scale. obviously its much more complex than my example portrays but i think it illustrates the scenario well enough.

oh and all of this necessary to energize lightning powered murderboards, because skateboards :skateboard:

The problem is not that cities are getting bigger.

The problem is how cities are getting bigger.

Hardly any new urban areas seem to be under construction in the USA, it’s all suburban sprawl which means – you guessed it – more fucking cars. Because you can’t do anything without a car in some of the new areas.

Helmet is worse than I thought now that I looked it over. I thought the same question after the crash before I saw the extent of damages with regards to whether or not I’d get the ProFrame again. Did a lot of Googling. tl:dr consensus by most is that a side impact to the chin guard may be bad, as it seems to have been designed for a full frontal, but aside from that it’s solid.

My opinion of it, is the fact I got conked hard as absolute fuck. I cannot remember before or after the crash, the fact a large amount of people held up traffic in the middle of the road, the fact I talked to them for at least 5 minutes, the fact I walked to my friends house with the board, glasses, all my gear… and talked to them for 10 minutes before coming to coherency and awareness.

All of that, and I only had a slightly sore neck on my already bad side from TOS the morning after. Maybe it’s just the fact my body is already slightly fucked that I’m not noticing more? Also, the fact that I have a relatively severe connective tissue disorder… crashes involving my head should be pretty fuckin impacting tbh. But shit, I feel absolutely fine. Point in saying - yeah, IMO Fox ProFrame is great, would buy again and use as main helmet. Never gets hot, doesn’t feel like you’re wearing a helm. Unfortunately, I don’t have the money to buy a new one right now. Might sound stupid, but with the conditions of the place I’m riding in, I think having some sort of camera gear is next on my list anyways. Drunk college students walking into streets is absolutely rampant, drunk drivers are also rampant and it’s a tiny place with weird, tight, low visibility roads. Recording of shit that goes down is of utmost importance so I don’t get fucked and so esk8 doesn’t get banned.

I’m going to try to see if Fox has any sort of crash replacement discount. I think TLD has a decent one.

If you had $200 to $300 to spend on a new helmet, now knowing what you know, and maybe wishing you had a visor… what would you get? These are some weights I pulled off the internet:

demon podium 2lb 2oz
fox proframe 1lb 10oz
tsg pass 2lb 5oz
icon airflite 3lb 12oz
troy lee d3 glass 2lb 12oz

after @rich incident i’m tryna find out how neck braces work.

Troy Lee Designs Stage is arguably the best. Compared to the ProFrame, the chinbar is definitely more sturdy. I just think it looks kinda lame, tho that’s never something you should base safety on tbh. I eventually want to have a ProFrame and a TSG Pass. I think pass is great for things like Barrett Junction terrain because of sharp rocks n shit.

Way way long ago there was a hit and run in my hometown where the woman who was hit flew almost 15 feet from the impact, and bounced directly off her head. She kept trying to walk away while assuring us that she didnt have a concussion, and that we were freaking out for no reason. We had her sit down and the EMS guys took one look at her and were like ‘Yep ma’am you’re heavily concussed’.

Pretty scary that our brains can just turn off and go autopilot… :robot: :grimacing:

I have the most traumatizing video of a person’s brain freaking the fuck out after a head to head smash in soccer. It’s scarred into my brain and will never be forgotten.

I was scarred for life via the meatloaf looking heart video we all had to watch in 5th grade. Please keep your video to yourself :joy:

Growing up in Israel I never appreciated how convenient everything was. In a 10 minute walking radius I had the following: a giant park, several grocery stores, bakery, post office, banks, gym with a swimming pool, places to eat, 24/7 “sevenelevens” etc.

Now, living pretty close to downtown in a major US metro area, in the same radius all I have is 2 crackhead liquor stores. :joy:

How does a brain freak out? There’s no muscles in the brain? Now i’m curious

He damaged his brain, causing several of his muscles to repeatedly spaz in the most recent motion he was making. I guess more literally one would say “I saw a human being freaking out after damaging his brain”

And if you want to be extra literal, there is muscle tissue in the arterial walls that supply your brain with blood so technically there are muscles in your brain.

Just now saw this…

Tbh dude…

Imagine if you tell somebody how to make something like an esk8, helping them all the way thru it, maybe even giving them some free shit or letting them use your tools too… and y’know, you tell them all the time, you need to wear a fuckin helmet. They tell you they will, so you’ll keep helping them… we are talking hypothetically after all…

Then imagine you have a little crash, but are completely fuckin dead because you landed slightly the wrong way without a helmet… tbh… kinda like, fuck you at that point lmao. Imagine how shitty the person who helped you create what practically killed you feels. I think that’s like, selfish haha. Like, if you wanna do shit that’ll get you killed, keep it to yourself… tbh that’s the one thing that always bothers me when giving advice… Like, if they don’t know that a red insulated wire isn’t only positive, a black insulation wire isn’t only negative, and a wuts this wire cuz it ain’t red or black and I only know positive and negative… Should they really be trying to build a battery, and would helping them in any way more than a link to electronics& circuits 101 be inherently wrong? I dunno… go ask the shadow people in tha corna…

My train of tenses and pronouns got fucked up… fuck engrish.
