The rain came out of nowhere, correct?

Hey everyone, this is the confessional thread. I deserve a little flak for not checking the weather as often as I should be. We all do stupid stuff and this is where we come to talk about it.

We’re all human and we all make mistakes. I know how hard it can be to resist the temptation of riding, even though we know that weather isn’t the best. On those types of days, I do maintenance or upgrades indoors. Better safe than sorry. Ride safe brother.

I did the same thing - only worse weather. I was out on a ride and an actual hailstorm came in. I was on a trail too far away from a road for Uber and there was no cover so I just went for it - which is to say I was parting the ice-pellet seas.

I almost made it. I got to within about a half mile of the car when the board died. It wasn’t even vaguely waterproof (nor was I). Frankly I’m amazed I made it as far as I did.

In the end it was the little compartment that the anti-spark switch lived in that flooded and killed it. I took it home, flipped it up on the end, pointed a portable heater at it for a day, replaced the anti-spark circuit and was back on the road.

I’d do it again in a second given the same situation. Though that board (and all my boards) are a lot more water resistant now than they were then, and anti spark circuits have gone the way of the dinosaur.

Contrary to my aversion to single MCU duals, and now even my aversion to duals in general, I’ve purchased myself a Xenith. I hope I don’t regret it.

Planning to push 140A CDR or 180A peak from the battery, hopefully at least 80A per motor.

My xeniths have served me extremely well. There is the known antispark issue, but I haven’t run into it, and it has a known fix. The new ones have no canbus chip, which is kinda meh but not the end of the world. I usually run 60 amps per motor, which seems to be plenty, but I don’t ride quite as hard as I did when I first started either.

I recently went from a DV6 pro to a regular DV6 and the torque loss is very noticeable. I can no longer zip ahead in seconds, my 0-30 takes like 2 whole seconds now. And on uphills I feel the lag once the current spike subsides.

Only inclines round here are bridges, so I don’t have to worry about hill climb at all. My main board theoretically tops out round 45mph, but I’ve only hit top speed once. Maybe twice. I made a 45 second store run once cuz they were about to close. Lmao. I generally just cruise at around 25-35 dancing and screaming along to my music xD

I’ve got my dancing and screaming up to 50kph cruising, and I’ve hit 60kph which is over my theoretical 57kph top.

The acceleration though. That’s where the adrenaline comes from. Being able to just pump current with the throttle. Ohh it’s good. I’d mainline that shit.

Seems our main difference is the unit of distance xD

What’s a reasonable motor and battery current I can expect? Marketing claims 160A CDR and 300A pulse

I wouldn’t trust 4.xx hardware with anything over 100A, anything above for more than 20 secs maybe with active cooling lmao.

I’d only ever go above like 50a for a few seconds. Only really for hills and getting up to speed. Once I reach a high-ish speed and maintain it metr logs indicate my current draw settles significantly. I just want that high-torque push when I slam the throttle and that consistently high speed without sag on hills.
