Duck Battery Systems 🦆

More battery kits are said to be arriving, may there be 10S options as well?

Suppose it is better to stick with only 12

Also you could bridge the last two cell packs and put the BMS there for a compack batt

I plan to expand to those eventually, but work on new PCBs is going slower than I hoped so they are probably a ways off.

That’s a really neat idea!

Any value in making some Bms balance adapters? Would be nice to go from a Daly BMS to LLT Smart BMS (or similar) without re-soldering.

That would be a really good thing to have a few of

That’s a really interesting idea, I’ll look into it! I suspect that it’s not a product that I can purchase off the shelf, so I would either have to order it custom made, or i would have to make them myself (which would make them prohibitively expensive).

I’d buy a few

@BenjaminF

it is just a tiny little PCB with pin holes and traces for each connector.

Or could you order it with wires soldered to each idk.

madness of method, right?

I think for those types of connectors you crimp rather than solder them, so it would just act like an extension lead with male on one end and female on the other but just two different connectors. Should be easier to make than soldering wires

oh right dumb moment I was thinking about the PCB adapter soldering so I forgot female connectors are crimped.

Can you even get male connectors for crimps?

I hadn’t double checked this before, but it looks like you can?

Someone correct me if this is a case where male/female is reversed, but I saw kits on Amazon that had both

Edit: I read the question wrong and linked female but it’s fixed now

Yeah but thats just those two pin connectors, what about 13 pin?

Yeah you can get full male plugs with the crimp pins

Link me Josh. I have soldered wires to far too many pcb headers

Another beautiful pack made by @BenjaminF!

So glad he was available for my neighbor to commission a pack made. Test ride last night went great and he’s in love with his new board.

10/10 would recommend

@BenjaminF what do you wrap your batteries in? Is this just minimally heated shrink tube?
I assume to allow flexibility. Interesting technique. Is it still firm enough to attach velcro too?

This one I can answer, that sucker is velcro’d down right. No weight on that thin little tiller enclosure.

Hell yeah dude! I’m glad Eric is loving it :metal: You’re a good friend for hooking him up with such a kickass board for his first esk8.

I’m not sure why you think it’s minimally heated? That’s fully shrunk down, very tight around the pack. It’s just clear PVC heat shrink :man_shrugging:

@BenjaminF did you ever use Ikea lack tables as a 3d printer enclosure by chance?

I did, but now I just use a stack of 3 of them as a cabinet haha. My printer sits on top of a shelf.
