Bent washer presumably from the few jumps I did?
Tread lightly riding these offroad or in damp conditions yall. I’ll see what I can apply to the bushings to try to seal out any debris/water.
I didn’t have many issues with pivot arm clearance though. Also the pivot cups and pivot arms were clean and dry.
edit: threw some household wax on my bushings and bushing seat and squeaks are all gone. I’m hoping this is enough to prevent dirt from getting under the bushing anymore
The squeak is from the bushings?
How much pretension are you running?
I was thinking the opposite. Should not be more than two turns past snug, I’m usually at half a turn past snug. If overcompressed there is less room for the bushing seat to travel between the bushings.
@Dinnye bent washer aswell I think it was because he’s running more lean than stock in the rear. Solution was to double up on the boardside washer. I’m sourcing thicker washers also but I get those in a few weeks.
Not sure if there is a easy solution for the debris in the bushing seat. I’ll look into it
Looks like it from the from the picture of the bushing seat. I only tried a full WFB setup for trails and jumps and those (as expected) didn’t have a problem with squeaking. Also didn’t notice marks from damp riding or debris. That said when I’ll put Dualities on my offroad setup I’ll probably give the APS chubby rear HPF barrel front a try. Or maybe 1 WFB in each truck. 2 WFB’s are a little too low rebound to feel nice when leaving the ground, but are great for trails.
Yeah mine was a combination of too much preload on 95A low rebound chubby bushings, and allowing more lean angle than standard. @slizer18 Double up the rear boardside washer for now and you’ll be fine. I also doubled up the rear roadside but that shouldn’t be necessary. Thicker washers as stock are appreciated though @Titoxd1000
That said you can ride on bent washers no problem, just if you know you are bending washers make sure you still have enough preload every couple of rides. Bending the washer means slowly loosing preload and the stability of the truck hides it pretty well even at basically zero preload until you need to brake hard at speed. I was riding at 40 mph casually without even noticing, only noticed it on track… But even then the wobbling that no preload caused on my setup was so easily controllable I was genuinely surprised.
It was my absolute pleasure! TSA gave my backpack some very weird looks, but only questioned me for my skate tool and not the giant hunks of metal in my bag.
I hope you enjoy the trucks as much as we enjoyed those hot sauces
(expect in invoice in the mail for the hand delivery, Santa doesn’t fly free)
Setup:
Titos MTB duality trucks (default angle, wheels set narrow as possible) @tomiboi Artemis deck
2 x makerx gofoc s100
Etoxx vesc6 enclosure
12s lipos
Flexibms
Stooge open gear 67/14
Reacher 6485 300kv motor
Etoxx Hubs
Trampa urban treads
Zmote Remote
Story:
I bought this deck secondhand from @tipsy over a year ago and he bought it from @tomiboi in early 2021.
There were 2 reasons why it took so long to build a board out of it.
All the trucks I had didn’t fit or I didn’t like them on this deck. I was looking for some narrow trucks.
Find a good solution for ESC cooling in a wooden case.
With the Titos Duality Trucks I found the perfect Trucks for this deck and with the MakerX S100 Single ESC I finally had some affordable ESC’s (up 16s) that fit into the Etoxx Vesc6 case and the cooling problem was also solved and I could fit 6 x 2s 10ah Lipos in this deck but I plan to get me a 16S battery pack in the future.
I’ve somehow come into possession of 3 sets, and I can confirm the second set made me just as happy (if not happier) as the first. I’ll update you when I put the third set together to see if it continues the upward trend
