This happened.
Joyous moments were had. Briefly. It was a big moment so I got my 10yo lad to help with the switching on of the lights, “would you look at that!” Says dad looking at this view, the lad looks around, hits the switch again looks confused and says “what do you have to do to turn this side on?”…… dawning ….
Dad Looks… “shit!”
One side lights, one side does not, a literal half empty half full moment.. I did check that both worked BEFORE the structural layer of glass went over the lights. The next words out of my face were “I’m off to the pub, I may be some time”
Form not function mumble mumble.. must push on.
It is coming together, it’s just a fucking wreck before its been wridden

Soldering the final bits of the controller up today. If I can pull a few hours tomorrow, I might be able to get this fires up before new years..

I haven’t seen any of this build until now—that deck is so damn sick!!! I really need to learn how to lay carbon fiber myself.

I think one of the cool things about composites is the barrier to entry is relatively low and you can achieve a satisfactory result with little experience.
that said, to get a GOOD result, experience and practice is definitely necessary. Its a fun journey though

I really only did a tiny bit of practice on a disused old deck.. give it a crack.. dont pick a windy day, I found one of the challenges wasn’t achieving a good finish, it was keeping it that way without dust settling on it while it cured
