I Fucks with the case but everything else is meh. A high price for nothing that seems to be new, no signs of user configuration or logging via app. I don’t see this being very successful but who knows.
Wonder if they’ll sell the case though
Wonder how the battery deal with flex.
I wonder how flexible the deck is.
I would worry about central batteries and the blade type connectors.
iirc hoyt st went to xt connectors over blade in their second generation
But what did you expect them to say? “This pin can fall out and cause serious injuries don’t buy this”? lol
Shear would Sherwood?
Not sure why I made this joke before looking at the video. The pin looks just thick enough to me actually.
I’d be down to see a special longboard truck with strain gauges built into it somehow to show how much force is exerted on it in all directions.
Probably much easier to test experimentally on a bench without making a dumb truck with sensors also I’d admit.
I’m not afraid of the pin shearing tbh. The shear strength would exceed lateral forces by multitudes. What I do see potentially happening is 1) sticker comes off after gets wet/splashed. Pin loctite may break down from dirt or heat, pin rattles out. 2) hard riding on the motor eventually puts play into the slip fit motor shaft from torque and vibration. The more play, the more it starts wearing down on the metal as it rattles and twists. Eventually this wears the pin down and it breaks. Ultimately it comes down to material, user inspection and life expectancy of the trucks…
This is probably a “it’ll be finnne” kind of product at least for like 98% of users.
Going for a pin locking thing like that instead of holding from the end of the shaft is an interesting choice, they have the supposed ride testing to back up the design so whatever.
It probably would be fine tbh. My grip is I wonder if there will eventually be play and the motor will rattle. Since nothing is compressing the motor against anything, they’re relying on some verrry precise machining here.
They should run it on that test rig like that one iwonder has. Although maybe not because it doesn’t seem to test very hard.
If microscopic play caused wear maybe some lok-tite would be in order. I’m full of dumb ideas some of which I don’t hold back if you can’t tell.
if u loctite the motor that completely defeats the purpose of the pin lol. Gonna be a hell of a struggle getting it back off
I don’t get what your issue with the tape is it’s just a cheep crappy dirt shield. Use it don’t use it it’s not a Structural part.
I don’t see you protecting all your screws on motor mounts from dirt.
OH NO EVERY ONES MOTORS ARE GOING TO FALL OF AND YOUR ALL GOING TO DIE!!!
if a pin is held in place by threads does that make it a grub screw and not a pin?
