DIY Wheels - Hollow Wheels - Very Comfy

Good sir, I resent this. I am a horse, not a fox.

Also the fastest horse in all of middle earth. Maybe not the goodest boy. That title would belong to Bill the pony.

How’re any other skate wheels any more fail safe than the Hollow Wheels in this case? That is to say we don’t expect other skate wheels to be fail safe against this particular failure. So, seems unfair to expect it of the Hollow Wheels.

I’ve had shit bearings fail on me and can see any skate wheel fall off due to this failure. In my case it was a pulley bearing though so the wheel was fine, the pulley not so much.

Doug, your are awesome.

You should release a warning that longer pin Kegal pulleys will not work without modification to either the length of the pins, or drilling the holes through the outer cover, so that the pins will not keep the cover from seating, or worse put a side load on the bearing, potentially causing failure.

Not a video, an email to your customers that only takes a minute.

You also really put the person with the failure on the defense, take the wheels back and refund the money and this goes away. Argue on the internet, makes you look bad.

50/50 on this bro.

Offered new bearings and a replacement wheel cover, for a bearing failure on a board where the owner admitted to have been using shitty bearings. Seems like a pretty generous offer…?

Didn’t call it flawed, it acts the same as any other wheel when the outer bearing fails.

I do have to clean up the site and put up a FAQ. I did list that long Kegel pins don’t fit but there is a lot of info on the product page. I am in the middle of a website redesign so I will definitely incorporate this.

I can see how he could be defensive. Something I need to improve upon in my communications to people.

Sorry, I am sometimes a :eggplant: and will do better next time.

Bit rude. This is @TheGoodMomentum 's page about his product and u want him to stop talking.

Not cool.

With all due respect, piss off :grinning:

:+1: :+1:

Also, to answer the question as to why the wheel stayed on, it’s probably a combination of the pulley helping hold it in place, and the extraordinarily tight bearing fit on the first batch of wheels

No - of course any other wheel is not better, and doug never even said his was better if a bearing were to fail than any other wheel - who accounts for that

also buy shit bearings, get shit performance, why is there any surprise here? I tried the cheap bearing thing one time, and they all broke in like 2 rides. Never again. I only get Zealous now

@TheGoodMomentum I appreciate you taking the time to explain why he had problems.

Have there been any more reports of heavier riders (200lb+) having issues on the Comforts?

Hey @haven, great question.

On the V1, yes, which is why I had to stop shipping those.

On the V2, no issues and I had 3 people weighing 250lbs put over 1000 miles on them (not including the board). The test rig ran 1000 miles too and no issues.

V2 boat is approaching the port and should get them on the 20th. So then all orders will ship from there.

There are couple really toxic people on this thread with unrealistic expectations.

yeah thats right. When are you going to produce 5" airless AND pneumatic wheels that actually hover above the ground?

I’ll be happy to make up for some of your loss by offering you the generous amount of 20$ for your no good, very bad, incredibly dangerous, garbage wheels! Since they are clearly of no more use to you

@ballisticbullocks

Ive had a wheel come bouncing past me from bearing failure, it certainly does happen. Just as an FYI

I believe it can happen. I totally understand the plausible deniability and can even agree in that regard. Use shit bearings, get shit results. No one ever mentioned the good quality bearings that they use. That would be helpful. This place is full of helpful people right?

To me “failed bearing” is a bearing that doesn’t rotate smoothly anymore. Not one that explodes and takes, not half, but a significant amount of material with it, but this sounds like it’s “good” and by design.

I need to put these wheels up for trade here. :joy:

All yours. Let me know shipping address. You can post a review of them on here. Shipping is on me.

Ive always replaced any bearing issued with wheels, usually order without bearings if its an option, if you run with an unknown bearing then its on you.

I would love recommendations. What bearings do you use? Ive asked so many times already. I presumed this forum was a place for technical advice.

maybe you should read the replies above that mention bones reds/zealous multiple times
