DIY boards are a lot more powerful then production boards on average I’d say triple (always exceptions).
What’s a boosted board motor just over 1000W compared to a normal Vs DIY 6355 3500W getting more common for even larger motors now.
DIY Will fined any issues because we push every thing so much harder it’s a risk that can only be managed with knolage and understanding (trial and error) this pushes us to understand the engenering behind stuff and makes a lot of us test pilots with what we make.
The result is if a product is reliable and succeeds in DIY it will excel in production if the price is right
Yes, these two pulleys fit - Kegel and ABEC. Kegel with the exception:
The kegel pegs are long by 6mm. Same thing for the Boardnamics - kegel pegs long by 6mm.
Option A) You’re ok to shave off 6mm off the pulley
Option B) You want me to modify the tooling (Yes, there is space and I think it would be structurally fine, but it is probably an additional 30 days in tooling modification… and also a couple thousand in tooling fees for me)
There is a special size washer that goes between the bearing pulley and the wheel bearing, this offsets the pulley so it does not touch the urethane at all. It doesn’t bottom out
Re: BN and 3D pulley. So I looked at the survey results
So I took a look to see if it is possible to carve out an extra 6mm from the cover so that people don’t have to remove 6mm off the top of the Kegel pegs. If I take out more material from the current cover, which has ABEC thru holes, the kegel clearance geometry starts eating from the spoke of the kegel and it causes a rotation imbalance and creates some vibrations. The only solution is to come up with
two new tools and also carry an additional SKU, which I just don’t have the finances to back that up. Moreover, there aren’t enough orders to justify that extra tooling cost yet. Hopefully as everything keeps to mature, then I can save up more money to do that.
New Update coming soon in about a week. Factory is starting to get back up and running again to resume cutting.
There is an opportunity to change the color for this batch from the white core and black thread to basically transparent materials since the tooling is still in progress. However, the color choice would need to be 100% majority vote because I don’t want to mislead anyone.
In the next email, I’ll make another google sheet to see what color preferences people have and if there is enough interest to do it; otherwise, I’ll just stick to the black tread and white core since that is what is marketed. Just throwing out some options. I’ll have to throw it into my rendering program to get better shots!
This was a picture of a brief experiment early this year with color:
New update coming soon and will need feedback and votes to see if there is enough interest to explore another color combination other than a solid black thread and white core.
On your website for pre-order it states you’ll email us for kegel or ABEC, but reading through the posts here it sounds like kegel core wheels (pegs on pulleys 6mm too long?) will not be an option. Can you confirm if kegel will be available or not?
