DAVEGA X Updates

I picked up the darker titanium samples this morning. Here are some pictures along with the blue and the lighter titanium. Also a different light than before. This was taken in a very light room near the window.

How hard would it be to bring back support for 23.xx firmware?

My UNITY refuses to work properly on 5.x. It throws DRV errors occasionally and one motor is stuttering sometimes for reasons unknown. A few weeks ago I helped @LAZYROLLING with the same problem by reverting to 23.46.

A few other threads on this forum suggest that keeping 23.46 is not a bad idea.

It’s a fair amount of work. You’re definitely not the only one who would appreciate it so I guess I’ll need to do it, though I’m reluctant to spend time on a dead development branch.

That’s strange I have 2 unitys running with FW 5.2 in my 4WD Board with no problems. Recently I had an issue with one Motor but then I figured out that one of my hall sensor cable was broken. What setup are you running ?

Yes I know that many UNITYs run 5.x just fine without issues. But mine does not for some reason. I have 2WD setup with 6354 SK8 sensored motors. All works fine with 23.46

@janpom i think i asked before but can’t seem to find it.
What do the green numbers on the top line mean? The “00” right after version number.
I seem to have managed to get them yellow and even red but not a single clue what they track

yeah would like to bump the idea of unity 23.xx support if possible, it’s not getting developed further but there are still folks buying new unities (ie, me)

It’s tells you the distance you drove without doing a backup. When I remember right it turns yellow after 10 kilometer without backup and so on . Jan explains it in his setup video on his page.

It’s explained here in the first few minutes:

Why is my Range changing just by rolling the board a few centimeters?

Because you cover more distance without spending any energy, which decreases your average consumption, which is used for projecting your range.

Edit: If you haven’t covered almost any distance you’re in the noise area. You need to ride for at least a few hundred meters so that you give the poor device some reasonable data to work with.

@janpom i think the battery amps + speed gives some really odd battery values. It seems that it likes in particular to stick to some numbers on either side and vary the other or stick both numbers regardless of the actual consumption.
I for one can’t believe at all i’m consuming 11 and 4 battery amps gunning it up a bridge ramp at 30km/hr.

I only got to check with vesc tool a bit near home and it’s roughly half of the total value. For example i was getting 25A on the side i was connected to while davega was showing 11 and 13 amps (so 24 total?). Assuming motors are about balanced i should be getting 50 battery amps

Which firmware version? What’s your motor setup? 2WD?

Sorry, I don’t understand this part. What’s 11 and what’s 4?

Are you talking about motor amps or battery amps?

Skip to the last 10 seconds. Most of that section shows “4” on both rows near speed. When i’m accelerating hard (on other occasions) i can get both of them to show around 20 each but never really passed much beyond that. Vescs are limited to 50 battery amps/side and i can see in stats i reach that (showing 50 and 50 with 100 total, which is correct)

This is what it is set up as

Oh, I see now! The number is displayed vertically. Sorry if that’s confusing. There wasn’t another good way to make it fit into the available area.

So, if you’re getting 4 on the top row and 9 on the bottom row, that’s actually 49. And, to make it even more confusing, if you get past 99, a big 1 is displayed on the left from both numbers, which indicates a hundred.

There’s no way you got it to show 20 each. They show single digit numbers.

Hm… i can guarantee i seen them on 11+ on each row (not sure if 11 and 11), not sure about 20 either. I think i’ll ride a bit later to make sure i understand what’s shown there

I finally found the post that talks about the feature (I thought it was in this thread; apparently not):

@Athrx, you might have seen something like this:

Now this is actually 199.

Edit: This post is even more relevant.
