Just fill in the order form at https://davega.eu/. I’ll contact you when I’m ready to ship. No need to pay anything until then.
Do you usually keep a public waitlist @janpom?
Not really but I currently have about 30 pending orders and I’m completely out of stock. Big batch coming in soon though.
Small request (maybe large because it requires repainting the housings) but is it possible to reverse the order of the buttons?
I feel like the order of up and down is the opposite of what I expect
but I wonder if I’m the only one? I think I have ingrained into my mind that the left button is back and the right button is forward because of default andoid.
Technically you could open the case and just swap the buttons. You might need to extend the wire though.
Yeah that’s true, I guess I was just wondering if anyone else also felt the layout is backwards compared to what they’re used to. Swapping the buttons wouldn’t be too hard but the housing would have the wrong order then
Muscle memory will fix that ^^
Possibly, i don’t even have a davega so i can’t give you my input ^^
But yes, left up sounds nicer.
I felt the same way too but I’m used to it now.
What’s the “back” action in davega context?
Yeah it doesn’t have an exact translation but I was thinking “back” action doubles as going up in a menu and “forward” as going down. For me, I think I also rationalize similar to reading. Going forward is going down the page and going back and going up the page. Or like right arrow usually advances the page and left arrow usually goes back.
You’re awesome dude.
You will see one in person.
We actually had a vote about this with the beta test team. The ones to be blamed for the current layout are: @rpasichnyk, @LR-designs, and @bigmisan.
up down enter imo
Please don’t, then i want one ^^
I know there’s not much that can be done that’s worth the time and effort but if new housings were engraved, I would ask for up on the left side of down. Enter to me doesn’t really matter placement wise (maybe not first though).
Up Enter Down
Up Down Enter
Enter Up Down
Thinking aloud though, I think it’s just a matter of changing the housing (could do it on your own with a sticker) and rearranging the buttons. No code changes needed so keep firmware simple and in order.
@janpom just upgraded to firmware 4.xx and davega doesn’t support that at the moment by the looks of it do you know in around how long the release for that firmware will be
I’ll do it by the end of the week.
v2.0.2 is now available for download and supports VESC FW up to v4.1.
Just to give you a little bit of context, starting from v2.0.0, I added validation checks for the VESC FW. This is a safeguard that comes with the BMS support. To get the BMS data from the VESC, a special request has to be sent to VESC. Should backwards compatible changes be introduced to the VESC communication protocol, this request could potentially be misinterpreted as a command to change some of the VESC settings, which is not what anybody wants. Hence the check.
The VESC FW v4.1 actually hasn’t introduced any backward incompatible changes. Thus, what the DAVEGA v2.0.2 does is merely marking the v4.1 as safe to use.
DAVEGA v1.x doesn’t have any VESC FW version validation implemented. Thus it will work with VESC v4.1 just fine. To be safe, though, I recommend that you upgrade your DAVEGA to v2.x before upgrading your VESC FW in the future.
@annihil8ted i completely agree about button layout. When I put in my order I requested the buttons to come un-soldered and the wires un-cut for this exact reason. The change to the semi-DIY kit solves the problem entirely, so you can figure out your wires any way you want, which I like
When my unit shows up im going to paint the housing to match my build, and order the buttons “up enter down” because it makes the most sense to me. I dont think im even going to bother with putting the correct arrows on after I paint it, so anyone else just gets to be confused
