DAVEGA X: Gauging interest

@janpom do you see a new version in the near future using CAN instead of UART? Doing the wiring of the new board if that is on the horizon would get ready for it also

Yes, we’re already working on it. No ETA yet though.

Thanks for the update, with winter still limiting ride days, I’ll continue to be patient…for now.

The weather today is awesome!

Agreed, this weekend has been nice and dry to get some riding in, that’s what sparked me asking the question after going for a ride and needing to rely on my phone to provide the stats.

The next week will be colder, but it feels like, we’re getting a early spring.

Just a big shout out to JanPom for how he’s handled his rescent challenges. He is a pro, always quick to answer and does not rest until he knows you are good. Wish every buying experience was that good.

Same last year… We have now flowers starting to flower already at 700m altitude. It’s like 10°C where I am and we are still in theory right in the middle of winter.

Just damn crazy

Big Shout Out to Jan for all the hard work and incredible product he has given to us all. Also a Big thank you for all the peeps who gave him test results and info to help make it better. It all takes time to do. As of today I am 100% done with both my boards after getting to 2.01 firmware and it feels great. Thank you to all you guys for info you never knew you helped me with just by being an active member.

Thanks again Jan!!

I missed the post showing how to update to v2.01 so updating v1.3.3 broke my DaVega. I don’t get anything showing on the display however there is a red light on the back side. Not sure how to go ahead as I won’t be able to grab the ID needed to properly update to v2.01

@annihil8ted

If your problem is retrieving your device ID, I’m sure @janpom has it and can help you with that.

Is it completely blank or you still get the printouts from the bootloader when it’s booting up and only then it goes blank?

Can you downgrade back by holding the down button while it’s booting up?

I’ll send you your device ID when I get back home.

It is completely blank as if the screen didn’t turn on at all. I’ve tried many combinations of holding down various buttons from downgrading to complete reset and nothing gets the screen back unfortunately

Hm, and how exactly that happened again?

Do you know how to establish a serial connection from your computer via USB and get readings in the terminal? Such as using the console in Arduino IDE?

I’ll need the list of firmware to verify the exact versions but I believe I was initially on version V1.02 and tried to upgrade directly to V2.01. That failed citing a missing library (and because I’m an idiot and didn’t check here first for proper update directions). I then completely reset and downgraded back to firmware V1.02. From there, I just did incremental updates until I reached V1.3.3. After V1.3.3, I tried to upgrade again to V2.01 and that’s where it failed on initial download. It then stated to hit a button to reboot and try the upgrade again. DaVega rebooted, I briefly safe the bootloader screen and then it all went black

Yeah I have arduino already setup on my computer so that shouldn’t be hard

OK, sounds like you’ll need a complete re-install. This shouldn’t have happened though. I wonder what went wrong. If you could send the terminal printout while DAVEGA is booting up that would be helpful.

At any rate, no worries. This will likely be fixable by a complete reinstall and if we’re not completely out of luck, we should be able to restore your data as well. I’ll PM you your device ID later and will guide you through the re-install.

In the meantime, please see if you can backup your DAVEGA files using the DAVEGA X Tool.

Please note that on Windows, the “Import files” and “Export filesystem” actions sometimes freeze. If that happens, please press ctrl+c and try again.

Sweet, thanks! Yeah I think I was able to make a cloud backup before upgrading and breaking my DAVEGA.

Is Windows not the preferred OS? I also have Mac available to me I can use

Yes, it works better on a Mac. Windows should also be useable though.

When I get home work, I’ll give this a go on the mac. Thanks for helping!
