DAVEGA X: Accepting orders

I cant speak for anyone else, but the main reason I chose the assembled unit over the kit was because I did not want to deal with assembling the PCB/screen. Since that is still taken care of, and since it sounds like this is going to take a lot of time/stress off your hands, I am all for it

I just looked over the assembly instructions videos, and it all looks really simple. I think this is a good change to make.

I already ordered with this option in mind, so looking forward to it.

If anyone wants a DAVEGA quickly and doesn’t need a cable please let me know. I can provide crimps and JST housings. Pretty much any 4P cable should be usable. What normally comes with a DAVEGA is a 26 AWG flexible ribbon cable with silicone insulation. Price will be 3 EUR cheaper without the cable. I’m hoping 3-4 weeks for re-stocking the cables.

@Trampa: is it possible to run a DAVEGA and the wand in parallel with a dual VESC? Think the answer is yes, just want to be sure before ordering. I’m a bit of an info-maniac…

@janpom would you be willing to sell only the PCB/screen? I’m thinking on using one in my ebike and the case and buttons would have no use

I ran wand on master and DaVegaX on slave. So yes, it’s doable.

Sure, I’ll PM you.

@janpom, is this the right connector? I’ll take it before you restock the cables. Order going in now, no need to knock of the cable fee to keep things simple.

Ordered one! About how long will it take? (I don’t have a deadline just wondering)

I should assume around 2 months now to be safe. It might be earlier but I can’t guarantee it.

Yes, it’s the JST-PH. You could use two of these to make a cable without having to crimp. It’s the same idea as described here. Just be careful that the DAVEGA X has a different pinout than the OS DAVEGA. When connecting to VESC UART, you simply connect the pins with the same labels, i.e.

5V - 5V
GND - GND
TX - TX
RX - RX

I’ll PM you regarding the purchase.

This would work just fine right? The round 4 core option.

0.75mm2 is 18 AWG. This is a bit too heavy gauge. I’m not sure if you would be able to crimp JST-PH on it. If you were to solder on an extension wire with the connector, that would be fine. Still, I would recommend using a thinner cable since it will be easier to route. Around 26 AWG is ideal.

Yeah I know its not ideal, wierdly hard to find this stuff locally though. They are all either absurdly expensive or come from china.

If any cable is fine for you, I can get some for you and include it. I got this from the local electronics shop:

I may actually still have some on hand. I used it with the OS DAVEGA and it worked just fine. The only problem is that it’s slightly thicker and less flexible than what normally comes with DAVEGA X so it’s harder to route.

Edit: It’s actually not thicker. The wires are a lower gauge. Probably 28 AWG. It is less flexible though. The insulation is PVC, not silicone. It should still be perfectly usable if you can handle the routing. Here it’s side by side with the silicone insulated ribbon cable.

I don’t have any more left but I could ask in the electro shop if they still have it. I could even crimp it for you.

Cable arrived. Finally! Now I just need to get it crimped. Should take about two weeks. Then I can start shipping again.

We’re also about to get another batch of alu housings made, including a few red ones. Should be available around March.

The nuts to hold the switches were not in my kit. You might want to check your packaging configuration. Can you tell me the exact size so that I can buy some?

Sorry man. You’re already the second guy with this problem. I must have messed up the packaging. I’ll ship the missing nuts to you. Will try to do it tomorrow.
