Chupacabra Build 2026

1st build starting!

Background on me: 280lbs, 6”4”. Live around crappy roads. I like long walks on the beach and carving. All that in mind, some new friends on this site stepped up, and now I’m moving to the acquisition phase of the Chupacabra build.

I ordered the Odachi V2, 20mm drop, double enclosure. https://tomiboiesk8.com/odachi-v2/ for the base. The shoes will be 125 Mad Maxx. MAD MAX 125mm Wheels – MADESK8

We’ll probably go with 14s and use everything from the Demon 2.0. This will be a long thread about building a Fatty Board called Chupacabra! We won’t get to the base until April, so I’ll get to work destroying the Demon!

Thank you to all the awesome people who got me started and to the forum ESk8 for helping me do this! I’ll be back in April.

Looking at the Demon 2.0, it uses a StormCore 60D+, which is only rated for 60 volts. If you plan to use 14S, you’ll need to get an ESC rated for higher voltage. I’m not sure which option within that range is best, since I know the MakerX D100 has had some issues in the past. You could do a 12S build with a lot of current and go with the MakerX DV6 pro to get you some more current to the motors.

You know…

I like the SR125s much better than the MAD125…

I wish I was told told this before buying both…

The Radium wheels have been great grip wise

Will be following. First DIY? Good luck it’s quite the adventure! Best thing I can say is it requires active maintenance. Meaning it’s not just plugging the board in till light turns green anymore. Arguably tho, I’ve probably had as many issues with diy as I had with pre-builts at this stage.

Plan plan plan on paper the entire build as much as possible before spending any money. Look for examples of components you plant to use together already having been used together successfully by others. If you can get the entire build planned with what components you are going to use before buying any of them you just might not have to re buy things.

Plan on it taking 3 times as long as you thought to build it and costing more than you thought. Lots of patience will save you lots of money. Sourcing parts can take longer than you think. Use good quality hardware and tools to assemble to avoid stripping things as you go.

Best of luck and enjoy the process. The research and building can be just as fun as riding but can also be just as fun as crashing.

Which use up more energy?

The best part of doing a DIY esk8 build is having so many parts leftover that didn’t fit, that it’s halfway to having a second DIY built

I did not compare wh usage.

I feel like they had pretty similar feeling preroll.

The SR wheels are a rubber compound and heavier.

Can’t imagine heavier than the MAD125, that sounds crazy. Anyone know how much the SR125 weigh?

SR125 are 770g per their website. I can weigh a MAD 125 tomorrow.
