Bushing and Truck Setup Help Offered

Electric, but in the works (not ready yet)

OK, so Surf Rodz TKP’s are twitchy at best and de-wedging can help but not ideal. I would get a pair of KranK 93a .6" tall Cones, Barrels and FatCones so you can try different combinations like:

Cone / Barrel front and back
Cone / FatCone front and back
Barrel / FatCone front and back
Cone / Barrel front, Cone / FatCone back
Cone / Cone front, Barrel / Barrel back
Cone / Cone front, Barrel / FatCone back
Cone / Barrel front, Barrel / FatCone back

I may have missed some but there are a lot of combinations that work with 3 pairs of bushings Order the Cones and Barrels with cup washers, the FatCones come with washers and order spare Small flat washers to use with the Cones and Barrels if you want a cheap way to fine tune the setup.

All the .6" tall bushings are found here: Bushings - Heights - Longboard 0.6" - RipTide Sports
Pivots are here: Surf-Rodz Pivot Cups - RipTide Sports

  1. I use BN 270 hangars on adjustable baseplates. I am currently using 50 degree front and 30 degree in the back. Hangar is 270mm.

  2. Currently using 87a chubby/barell Krank

  3. The trucks feel very loose at low speeds near the center but stable up at speed. When I turn the trucks tighten up very fast and I have very little turn past a certain point.

I want them to be a bit tighter at slow speed and I want to have more turning ability when at speed ideally I’d want lower rebound. The stability is nice so I’d like to keep that

  1. I mostly ride around campus and group rides. I like to go about 30-35 top speed but a lot of my riding is small road riding. Also a few sharp tuns but not anything crazy. I’m not a heavy carver but I need to be able to make turns.

  2. I am coming from a land yachts evo 40 but I’m changing to a Redember 44. Effective angle will remain the same. My truck angle from #1 is with the wedging. Wheel bite is not an issue on the front. Slight concern in the back.

  3. Fully geared up I am about 175lbs or 80kg.

Thanks for your help @RipTideSports

@Akbrock47 are you using the same bushing combination front and back?

Yes I am. The only difference front/back is the angle. @RipTideSports

OK, you need to compensate for the angle difference due to the leverage differential. To balance the system, a KranK 90 or 93 Chubby / Barrel will work much better in the rear truck. Currently, due to the truck angles, your front is harder to turn than the back which is the opposite of what you need.

I thought that higher angles meant more turn. Is that not true?

Also if I need more turn in the front then I would still need new bushings in the front, yes?

You are using a symmetrical bushing setup on an asymmetrical truck configuration. The lower the angle, the greater the leverage is over the bushings. A 50 degree front turns more than a 30 degree rear for the same deck lean. A 50 degree truck has less mechanical leverage over the bushing compared to the 30 degree truck so to balance the system, the front needs to be softer than the back to compensate for the differential leverage.

Okay so is there a need to change the front or should I just change the back?

I would go with a tighter back. 90a Barrel / Chubby should work great. If you want to lower the rebound, use flat washers on the barrels in place of cup washers.

Hi Brad. I need some help choosing some Lacroix bushings for my Acedeck NYX chamber trucks.

I weigh about 180lbs with all my gear, don’t usually ride above 25mph and love to carve.

What durometer front and rear would you suggest?

Thanks in advance!

Hey @RipTideSports what would be a softer solution for apex air trucks. At the moment i have red ones deck side and green road side. Its a bit stiff as i am only 79kg

Deck is haero bro

Thanks

First try replacing the cup washers with flat washers, that should loosen it up quite a bit.

I would like a recommendation for bushings.

Weight: 83 kg

Board: Tynee Explorer, belt drive, dkp trucks, pneumatic tyres

Goal: Active riding/surfing at approx. 20–25 km/h, but the board should still be controllable at 40 km/h.

The original bushings feel dead.

I replaced some bushings with whatever I had lying around. Durometer mostly unknown, but significantly softer. The softer ones at the front.

A completely different riding feel. It’s been done. Tight carving / rail-to-rail with decent lean and counterpressure, but still easily controllable at 38 km/h. If I push in again during the turn, I can make the tail drift slightly. Real street surfing.

I think it could be even better or more defined.

I’ve now found two completely different setups in the forum:

Stuff about double kingpin trucks - #45 by RipTideSports?

and completely different:

Tynee Explorer Discussion - #115 by tuckjohn?

What would you recommend?

I recommend our kit in KranK 93a found here: Dual Kingpin Truck Kit – RipTide Sports, Inc.

Configure the order as shown in this screenshot:

The web picture needs to be changed to reflect all the bushings in the kits are the same color and duro.

Thank you very much! Unfortunately, I can’t find the 6666 set for Wowgo, Tynee, etc. here in Europe. The link to the ‘retail shops’ on your site seems to be down at the moment. Does the 6666 box contain 8x 93a cannon bushings? If so, I would order them individually along with the pivot cups.

Cheaper to buy just direct from us then, our website will calculate shipping for you. It is much more expensive to buy the components and there is only one FatCone and 1 Chubby in the kit and no one sells them individually.

Sorry, but your shipping policies prevent me from ordering to Europe. There you refer to the retail stores yourself (broken link).

Please send me an email and we will sort this out. We ship to Europe almost daily. brad@riptidesports.com
