Bushing and Truck Setup Help Offered

If you can confirm the height of the bushings, that will be enough

They look about 0.65inches tall

OK the closest we have is .60 so if you are OK with that I would suggest KranK 90a Barrels up front and back and use Small flat washers up front and Large Cup Washers on the back. I have attached a screenshot of how to configure the order

Hi @RipTideSports! I’m currently putting together a build with Savage TKPs and wanted your input on bushing choice and wedging. I’m a larger rider (210lbs without gear) and am looking for a good mix of stabilty at speed (no greater than 30mph) with a good turning radius.

With my RKP setup, I’m presently running Krank Chubbies (96a) boardside front and back. Street side in the rear I have a krank barrel (93a) and an APS street fatcone in 95a. This is on a subsonic centruy with the built in wedging/dewedging. This setup is very stable for me and still provides a good turning radius even on 270mm hangers.

I’ve run barrels boardside before and they didn’t feel stable enough for me. The challenge with these trucks is that the bushing seat will not accept chubbies. Another rider is runnninf cannons, which apparently fit.

My thoughts are: krank cannons (BS) all around in 96a. A krank barrel in the same duro in the back (SS) and a krank fatcone in front in 93a. Would also like to wedge the rear (or is it dewedge for TKPs? I honestly have no idea lol).

Would welcome your thoughts.

Alright for an upcoming build I’m gonna need some help.

I am running a flux deck with some BN 270 hangars. My options for Angle are 0,15,30. The built in angle for the flux deck is 30 degrees.

I haven’t tried any bushings yet because I have not had any to try on it.

I want to use the board for some light off-roading but mostly street riding. I am pretty worried about wheel bite but I can always add risers.

If I end up not liking the setup, or the wheel bite is too inevitable I’ll end up getting different trucks. The choice of trucks was not my first choice, I just got the set in a drivetrain kit.

Any help is appreciated @RipTideSports

I have lost track of what fit the Savage trucks but I thought they did fit the Chubbys. Can you post some pictures of the bushing seats, I might be able top tell from that. if your wedge is making the kingpin more vertical and reducing the turn, you are de-wedging.

Please clarify. The truck choices are 0, 15 and 30. Is that including the deck’s 30 degree influence or are the parameter’s independent?

I have a of set of these trucks and have spent a bunch of time tuning them. I am 175lb without gear and ride 88a cone/barrel in front with a MAD precision cupped washer and 93a cone/barrel in the rear with a MAD precision washer. This makes for a carvy ride and is stable up to 25mph. Probably more but I do not rider faster than that for safety reasons.

If you want the trucks to be able to turn pretty decently while still being stable, starting with Krank 90a barrel/barre in frontl and Krank 96a barrel board side and 93a roadside in the rear is probably a good place to start. If you use a fatcone, the Savage trucks will struggle with keeping a descent turn radius. Cup bushings boardside and flat washers road side would be a good place to start too.

The baseplates will do 0,15,and 30 degrees. That is separate from the 30 degrees that the ends of the deck are.

I was told that 0 degrees in the back and 15 in the front is good for this setup. (Equivalent of 30 and 45 in rkp)

OK, @Akbrock47 that sound reasonable, what is your weight?

180 with gear

@RipTideSports

KranK 90a Barrel / FatCone front and KranK 90a Barrel / Chubby back is what I would go with to keep you out of trouble

And that’s with the 0/15 split angle? Also what kinds of washers would you recommend?

Correct, the Chubby will compensate for the split. Have both Cup and Flat available for the Barrels

@Common_good The bushing seats are 25mm (.984") diameter, and are not stepped, so not meant for chubbies. Cannons are 25.4mm, (1.00"), but not sure what they measure at the small end of the taper.

I’ve actually managed to fit chubbies so I’m going to play around with that for a while. Thanks for clarifying re de-wedging :+1:t2:

@fujio001 thx for the insight. I did see your posts in the Savage1 tkp thread and it was def helpful.

@Savage1 thank you, sir. I’ll post some pics when I get a minute but chubbies def fit the bushing seat :call_me_hand:

Okay so it looks like I can’t do the 15 degree split. What would you recommend for a double zero?

Just a reminder that I weigh 180, gonna be using 270mm at 0 degrees, Im gonna be using bindings, and the flux deck has 30 degree angles at the ends.

I think it’ll be good to let you know that im having to use the baseplates backwards so that I can fit my gear drives right. Idk if it changes anything but I thought I’d ask.

I should be able to get to this today, sorry for the delay

You’re good. Will submit an order as soon as I get your recommendation. (Cause your last one worked wonders)
