OK, I would suggest our Canon bushings which are a slightly larger diameter than our Barrels so they will be tighter in the Caliber 44’s seat. For your weight and where you are riding, I think the KranK 87a Canons will work best using our Small Flat washers up front and our Large cup Washers in the back
@BenjaminF i think he just told you to queue the rocky playlist and start bench and dead lifting your board
I’m looking for new bushings and I’m confused about the category “Longboard” on the RipTide website.
Is there a difference between regular skateboard bushings and ones for longboards?
Longboard bushing are usually taller.
Thank you Brad!
Longboard refers to the .6" tall bushing series most commonly used in longboard trucks
Hi Brad! Looking to update my Switchblade push board. Currently running Venom HPF 90a/87a barrel/cones on 50 degree Paris trucks, and I find rebound to be a little too snappy, although low speed is pretty good. Would switching to WFB formula help, or should I try double barrels first?
I’ve made the recommended changes and am quite happy with how the Killshot came out! Changed the angles to 40/15 and used flat washers and 87a in the front, cups and 90a in the rear. I can turn full range without wheelbite, and while perhaps a little soft for me (because of what I was used to), I can likely fix that with cups in the front or change to 90a so that its a little stiffer.
As far as the Boosted goes, do you have any recommendations as far as durometer and style of bushing goes? I bought a variety based on your recommendations for other 185lb riders, and the first thing I tried which I liked somewhat was 90a canons in the front with flat washers, and 90a canon/magnum in the rear with flat washers as well. Are there larger cups for magnums?
Thanks for the tips @RipTideSports Brad, I probably wouldn’t have ever figured this out on my own!
You nailed it. I can’t believe the difference it made. It’s carvy yet still snappy and stable at 30. It’s a very predictable rebound back to center and really helps on the bumpier roads. Really good dual purpose setup. Thanks!
I have adjustable BN baseplates, and plan to play around with different angles. I’m 175lbs.
Currently I have the garbage black bushings that come with chinese dpk Trucks, supposedly they are around 92a. The boards I have using those bushing just feel kinda dull.
I’m looking to get a range of bushing to experiment with I just don’t know which ones to buy.
Hi @RipTideSports - I just purchased a lacroix jaws. Do you have any thoughts or recommendations on using your hypertruck shock blocks on MBS matrix ii with the radium adapters?
If it’s helpful, I’m 155lbs and currently have Krank 90a on my RKP street build.
Hey Brad,
I have some 90a barrels laying around, would it be possible to pair those with softer duro cones in the front too?
I need to order the bushings from a site where only pairs are being sold sadly.
Hey @RipTideSports, my 9yo daughter is getting more and more interested in riding my wife’s Evolve BGT. She struggles to get enough leverage over the deck with her little feet and low weight (~30 kgs) though.
I was gonna just drop the duros right down for her but what would you advise?
Hayo Brad (@RipTideSports)!
I am again in need of your giant THANE BRAIN
SR TKP’S 177mm hanger, 35* rear and 45* front, about 32" wheelbase.
Going on a HAYA deck, wheelbite not an issue (back is on adjustable plate, front has one of your tremendous tunnel risers)
I’m about 195LBS with my pack
The type of riding I plan to do is mostly freeride/carving and cruising. I already have a fast sketbord so this one doesn’t have to be too speedy, but I like the feel of lively yet stable, hence the angles.
The stock bushings look to be standard height, I’m sure you’re well aware, I’m wondering if there’s any benefit to doing a tall barrel boardside and a street height bushing roadside. But I fully respect whatever your recommendations are and will likely not deviate too far from that.
Thanks in advance for your help! You are a community GEM.
Cheers
Sorry for my absence, this has truly been a shitstorm. I hurt my back Kayaking just after Father’s day, when the Chiropractor route and he made it worse by somehow enraging the sciatic nerve in my left lag causing the quad to be in a knot. It has been locking up for over 3 weeks and forces me into a horizontal position for hours. Today at 10:00AM, this is have been the longest I have gone without it locking up…there is hope. Simultaneously I dodged a Covid bullet where everyone else at the July 4tgh event got it that had not had it before - sheer luck but one in our household did get it but managed to shake it off after 10 days domestic isolation.
@RipTideSports sorry to hear about your back. Sciatica can be horrific - I hope you heal up well. If you have a pool available, swimming can be helpful for getting blood moving for healing in a low intensity way.
I dodged a similar covid bullet. 25 out of 35 people got covid at a wedding I went to. Not sure how I didn’t get it.
In any case, I ordered blue and white hypertruck blocks. Haven’t had a chance to try them out yet, but I’m set for now.
Cheers!
Ya Brad, glad you are seemingly making progress. Just heal up brother. Step by step. Low back pain is the worst. We’ll be here waiting all patient like till you’re able to feel somewhat normal.
The 4 main categories we make are
ShortStreet .4" (10.16mm)
Street: .5" (12.7mm)
Longboard: .6" (15.24mm)
Tall: .75" (19.05mm)
To maintain a trucks geometry and not screw up the pivot axis, it is best to replace your stock bushings with series closest to the stock height.
What are you using the board for?
We only have flats available for Magnums, sorry.
