Thx, order placed! What would be the setups ti try?
@BruSkater here are some different setups to try with your 4 KranK 90a StreetBarrels and the ones you ordered, bushings are listed roadside / boardside below
90a StreetBarrel / 90a StreetFatCone front and 90a StreetBarrel / 90a StreetChubby rear
90a StreetCone / 90a StreetFatCone front and 90a StreetCone / 90a StreetChubby rear
93a StreetBarrel / 93a StreetBarrel with flat washers up front and 93a StreetBarrel / 93a StreetBarrel with cupped washers in the rear
90a StreetBarrel / 93a StreetBarrel with flat washers up front and 93a StreetBarrel / 93a StreetBarrel with cupped washers in the rear
You can also mix the 93a StreetBarrels with the 90a StreetFatCones and StreetChubbys in several different ways so try different combinations…experimenting is half the fun!
What are the differences between
Krank chubby
WFB chubby
and APS chubby
?
I want a similar bushing as the one found in caliber 2 trucks. This one just in red:
You have to find the description of the formulas on the riptide site, I don’t remember where it is exactly but there is a difference between the different types. Different ways that they react
That’s exactly the list I’ve skipped. Looked at every other info chart but not that one. Cheers!
Are you referring to an insert bushing, one that is the diameter of a Barrel but has a detail than fills the space in the hanger?
Yes exactly.
The stock caliber 2 trucks come with this set of bushings (i have the middle ones)
the problem is that i have more trucks/hangers than i have bushings.
I could use the spare cheapo Chinese bushings that came with my board but I’m used to the caliber ones so i want to recreate that feel.
We do not make that style of bushings for several reasons
A shame! I like that setup. (to be fair, that’s the only setup I’ve used apart from the first 3 months)
I am not really sure of the functionality of the insert, if the bushing fits the kingpin and the bushing seat, there is no slop.
Maybe for the same reason this dude made a “stability key” (although obviously for the tb 218 trucks)
To give it some extra slop protection, not sure.
Swiveling the hangers without the bushings installed is not a representation of slop, of course it’ll move sideways.
The way to test for slop is have both bushings in and tighten the nut until it barely engages the bushing stack (can’t turn them easily) and then see if it’ll pivot sideways along the plane of the hanger face.
Yep that was me and that’s why. SZ has the surf keys for the same reason- works like a shitty, cheap, janky but still somewhat effective spherical bearing.
Oh right, totally forgot it was you ^^ Saw they name and thought, “hey i know that person” but already forgot who made it while replying.
Why dont they put ball end joints in the bushing seat like moestooge uses?
Hey Brad @RipTideSports,
I need some help with my bushings. I’m using shortboard with about 23" wheelbase.
Front hanger + baseplate is completely paris V2, back baseplate is parisV2 and the hanger is a mellow board hanger. In there are the stock Paris bushings…
I’m a light dude (65kg) The stock bushings are just horrible (barrel/cone). Super hard and not much rebound.
I’ll be using this board for casual street riding, nothing crazy and not too much carving. (about 20-40km/h) I’m pretty much not concerned about wheelbite because these are just 80mm wheels.
Your help is appreciated <3
@RipTideSports Hey Brad, i noticed there’s no pivot cups options for the Exway Trist trucks (which am not surprised) but I am wondering if the other brands one will fit, I’ve included some measurements below
Our Kodiak Pivots fit the Trist Trucks
not sure if you can say but you aren’t involved with the Freebord 5 bushings?
wonder what you got that will work.
@Simeon do you really like dablues? I keep thinking about taking them off my freeboard and trying to ride them normally or maybe throw a motor on. Bit of a dramatic Camber given they have never been flipped.
i just had them on this board for testing… can’t say much about these because i didn’t ride my freebord much
