BROZINGA, rebuild/update.

Got nothing much to do during the 18hrs drive back from esk8con so I figured I’d make a build thread for my “new” build.

Parts:
Deck: APEX Bro 2022, hence the name.
Battery: 21s6p P45b, thanks @Pecos
Motors: SKP 6485 151kv
Trucks: Tito’s Duality
Wheels: Mboards 8in Novas stolen from @Pecos and Hubba hubs.
ESC: Makerx D100s, thanks @Ash
Mount: @IDEA mounts, thanks @Ash for doing the orders.
Drives: Stooge open gears.

First impression, POWAHHH. Coming previously from a 12s build, 21s is way too much power. Build is gear for +50mph and can easily do spin out, not even maxed out my D100s. And the open gears sound are awesome.
First problem:
Apparently MBS hub spacers aren’t long enough. So when I tighten the axle nut, it compresses on the bearing instead of the spacers. Blew out my bearing mid ride, luckily was only a $15 Uber from my house.

Second issue:
My original motors overheat extremely quick. Was running APEX 170kv motors and they were fine when ambient temps was around 35-40°F. As I gradually gotten use to the build and weather got warmer, I overheat them within minutes of riding casually. I think @tuckjohn had the same temp issue with his APEX motors. I got a set of SKP 6485 173kv from @Lahkun hoping it would fix temp issue.

And then esk8con rolls around, barely got my motors in time before hitting the road. Soon as me and Chris(@Pecos) got to Vegas on Wednesday, we went for a quick ride around the venue area to check it out and also to test my new motors. Good news! No temp issue. But my way of testing was a bit…off the book, Chris called it a Rapid Unscheduled Disassembly.

Can’t have motor temp issues if you don’t have any motors. Also managed to reduce my D100s workload by 50%. :poop:

Thankfully @Skyart had a spare set of 151kv motors so I snatched them up, I also brought an extra D100s. Got everything installed that same night.

Somehow it made through esk8con without falling apart. Though while trying the dyno at SKP booth, one of my motor circlip popped out, weird. Gonna updates this post with more pics later, maybe…

It didn’t just hold up for esk8con, took 1st in sportsman!!! Also had one half dyno before the clip popped but had the tension too low so the numbers weren’t perfect but jumped to 12000w range easily. Likely can put down more after all the kinks are worked out.

Found the clip of the motor clip popping

That’s a crazy huge battery, have you been able to max out the range on it yet?

Not yet cause my previous motors overheat too fast, my guess is around 35 miles of hard riding.

Update: 4wd go brrrrr.

4wd doesn’t make this louder since most of the sound is already from the rear gears spooling up. But now the clicking noise when coasting before is now present at all time due to the front gears. God it sounds awful. I love it.

Dude… I could not deal with how loud the Stooge gears were.

Also what does this monster weigh???

No idea, haven’t weight it yet. But 21s6p 4wd is pretty heavy that’s for sure. I could still bunny hop this on the road tho…

Not bad for running at 50% power. Lol…

I can still bunny hop it over man holes, so it’s not too bad. What I most worry about is how long the MBS ladders gonna last. Plus I’m getting some weird speed wobbles, feels like the front truck is a bit loose but I haven’t adjust the kingping nut. Either I’m not used to adjusting my stances due to the increase weight in the front or the extra weight up front cause the trucks to turn easier?
