Look at the top right wheel too
Iām comfortable with the blue I have on it. This was hopefully a once in a blue moon scenario that managed to knock it loose. Easily hundreds of pounds of impact force.
Do you think there would be good purpose in putting a wheel bite eliminator endstop into a custom BN baseplate?
For me personally? No. Iāve never been able to achieve wheelbite on this setup under normal riding with hard carving. When I built it I leaned all my weight on one side to the point of lifting opposite wheels and still wasnāt able to get wheelbite. It was the insane opposing flexation in this situation that allowed it - the two trucks rotating in opposite directions, with the rear one on a lower plane than the front ones.
Truly a situation with odds similar to getting struck by lightning I imagine.
odds subject to road conditions
True. Terrible luck to hit this in broad daylight. I go around junk like this every day, but I followed too close to the car before going around it and paid the price.
ooo sucks you had to learn this the hard way, so glad that youāre okay.
Glad youāre alright.
I had a similar pothole encounter, I hit it going about 15mph and my front made it over, but my rear left drive was unlucky and sunk into the pothole, caught on the gearbox case (like you) and threw me off. It was very violent and I couldāve sworn a gear had exploded, but I hopped on my board and was able to ride away. Upon opening the drive the gears looked aokay. I was super shocked considering how violent the crash was.
Props to Kevin
Is this alright? My motor gear sticks out a tiny bit over my wheel gear. The FS motors have an indent where I canāt push the gear any further in.
That is ok.
Good deal, thank you Kevin!
Hi,
I have to admit a lapse in my intro to esk8 research here, the axles with my BN hangers came out of the package slathered in grease, so thatās how I installed them. I only now picked up on the fact that people are using either Loctite 648 or the standard blue stuff to install them. How borked am I? I assume a degreaser bath is in order?
just iso and a good rub should be sufficient
def need 648 or at least 272/271 to make sure they donāt come loose over time unless you need to
Thanks, Iāll get the right stuff. I do want them in permanently.
I meant for degreasing the inside of the hanger though, I suppose I could use isopropyl on a swab or something to reach inside, but I donāt know if I should be leaving q-tip debris on the interior threads.
No need to send grease the bolt really. Thatās just there to prevent rust in shipping.
You can clean only the threads and use epoxy or red loctite if you want them permanent
Sure, I figured there was probably a good reason for grease on the bearing surface. Iām just saying I need to clean the inside threads of the hanger since there is now grease on them </ facepalm >
Thanks for the advice, Mr. Namics.
I would suggest not epoxy in case you bend an axle or something someday. I managed to get my JB welded ones out (they had no hex key too) but it was a fucking struggle, I needed a serious torching.
Do you use them as wheels ir what?
Do you use them as wheels or what did you do with them??
