No; “speed rings” is longboard jive for “8mm ID washers” – or occasionally 10mm ID washers.

Speed rings are thinner than normal washers though to be fair

The OD is usually no bigger than the outer edge of a bearing race too, the whole point is to keep surfaces from touching the bearing shielding

Would be extended awesome if we were able to add any mp3 sound for start up and system sounds. @DerelictRobot ? Even if the Mario sound is some midi stuff or something :man_shrugging: maybe this belongs to the weird ideas thread :man_shrugging:

I’m trying to do this with an arduino and some 3w speakers for my build. Off topic though sorry

Well, to be fair, a thin washer is just a shim.

Speed rings are washer/shims with a specific OD, as you said. That’s the only difference.

Has anyone gotten barely enough thread left on the axle? I’m considering shaving down the spacer 1mm or so down.

What does assembly involve? I’m trying to decide if I should order w/ or w/o it.

Ordered!

Assembly involves screwing everything together, getting the mesh right, and loctite the motor gear. Also involves greasing and unpacking each part. Not too complicated.

Of course since I designed it, I can assemble it perfect. I feel like any builder here can do as good of a job though
