so today was the real test with my new board ! , and i am very happy overall (its scream once vtech kicking !) but the only thing i really notice is the weight of gear drive affect the stability of the board at high speed its not very stable , let me explain, on my previous setup my mountainboard on chaindrive was maybe 1-1\2 pound and this geardrive is maybe twice the weight so i have to upgrade with the red bushing (matrixll) . i start to feel small wobble at 40 to 47mph and i was at 50% trottle i think its to dangerous to go at theses speed anyway , i don’t blame the geardrive, its just a observation , its feel tail heavy and to solve the problem i will not going above 40mph , this setup is for top speed and act like a big turbo with lag but once you get 30mph it scream and be prepare for the boost but you all ready at 40mph and you feel the tail no following , maybe a damper like my sportbike can help to reduce the wobble but it think like a say previously i will stay below 40mph and stay alive

just to remember my setup is 3.95 ratio with 6384 190kv at 18s , 100A motors current ,90A max battery

Interesting I never thought about how much heavier the gear drives would feel. Will you try to play with angles for more stability, what are you running now?

Still not sure how the gear drives would cause the wobbles even if it’s heavier. I wonder are your wheels balanced? At those speeds it probably matters more…

the deck is mbs COMP 95 Deck Tip Angle - 30

they are not balanced , but i feel a little shake at 40 to 47mph

This is fine right? Local place was out of Red N Tacky. (despite me calling ahead and verifying stock… why do people even shop in person)

sorry also for you lost , what is your set up ? is it the fisrt geardrive you own ? , mine 3.95, but i really think i will go 5.2 and reduce my top speed because 18s is unlimited speed and it to dangerous for my old body

running 3.95 helical with 6384 170kv on 12s… top speed exactly 40mph with 8 inch wheels. more torque than I need… it’s a perfect setup. in the process of upgrading to a tomiboi deck+12s8p battery

side note, Baby Driver is an amazing movie… love the way they implemented the music into the visuals

wow nice work , the wheel , the deck , theses are the AT trucks from boardnamics? i am not very familiar with other mtb products ,

btw the setup you have is great to get top speed on 12s but on 18s is just to much even with 170kv , mine are 190kv and they heat up a little bit but i iam not to much agressive with the trottle they are just warm not frying, also you got balls of metal at 40mph without binding .
also my matrix 2 truck wider than yours and i almost shit in my pants at 47mph wobble

i earned this name yesterday i and ask longhairboy to changed it to : old man on board

Thanks man! Yep, Boardnamics 270mm trucks. Going to switch to these Luna 350s though, I was getting some wheelbite with the BN270s. Just waiting on truck adapters.

I move my feet way too much to feel comfortable with bindings. I think I’d only want bindings on a jumper style board, and even then I think I’d rather use sky hooks.

very sexy design

Hey kids.

I have had my AT gears for several months now.

They seem to run fine.
But I have this weird annoying clicking sound.

Does anyone have that?

It is not the chatter I am talking about.
That I am ok with.

My theory is that it is the bolts from the wheel hubs interacting with the adapter.

Does anyone else have this happening?

And more importantly has anyone found a magical fix?

I have opened it up and reassembled and it is still there.

Mine don’t sound like that at all. Very strange
