BIG BEEMS: Micro Suns Powered by Board Voltage! (SRO)

Happy to announce that Big Beems now support the market frontrunner: Duality!

Since the Big Beem mounts already come with an assortment of angles, you should not have any issues getting it to work with your setup by switching out the angled adapter.

Included in the box are: 2x -4 degree, 2x -9 degree, 2x +2 degree, 2x +4 degree, 2x +9 degree.

For my Lacroix deck with a 30 degree front deck angle and the flat baseplate truck, I recommend using the +2 degree adapter. However, for decks with a 35 degree angle, I recommend using the -4 degree one.

@dskate I will ship your order soon since I’ve finished up the design work for the dualities!

Also, the Black Friday sale is still on for a couple days so order up if you’re interested!

How are they for people, cyclists etc coming your way, blinding wise? I see blinding bike lights all time and wonder myself if my handheld flashlight is blinding others. (Please guys, tilt your damn lights down. You don’t need to illuminate the tree crowns)

Of course it depends on the angle they are mounted in but there’s lights that just blind others regardless of angle

yeah it do be like that. my flashlight and EUC headlight have focused beams in the middle ish, but have a nice light flood that’ll blind everyone anyways

I modified and printed this thing for my Flashlight.

I prefer flashlights with a “spot” rather than a “flood” for that exact reason. I dont need to dimly light the whole street. I need to brightly light just where I’m going, and be able to aim around if needed to check things out in the distance or not blind oncoming people.

So much this. I’ll even point my flashlight fully at my feet/board if I’m passing people/cyclists in tight quarters. Both because I don’t want to blind them, and because I want them to see me clearly. Plus, showing them what kind of vehicle I’m on can give them a better idea of my limitations so they dont act unpredictably.

This angle had possums in trees being toasted

This seems level with the deck and might still be a bit high? What angle relative to the deck is usual? I’d think a slight downward tilt would be ideal.

They aren’t too bad due to how their lenses work. They have a flat beam rather than a circular one and that helps a lot with light leakage

Of course the angle you mount at makes a difference too, which is why I provide angled adapters with them. I have an idea for a much more adjustable version in my mind I just haven’t gotten to designing it

Nah this is way off, They should be aimed down at the ground a bit, not up at all. Up at all and you’re shooting cars 500ft away haha

Those mounts were never intended to be at that angle or on those trucks, so it makes sense that it isn’t working right - see examples below:

Haha… thanks. The best I can do is about level and I might be able to use them again with the shield positioned up for now.

I don’t use them much currently out of politeness but it’d be good to be able to. The helmet light does me good but more light is better haha… have a good trip man, we’ll sort out what to do when you’re back. :two_hearts:

Sounds good haha I’ll respond to your DM today haha

I haven’t been night riding a ton lately either because it’s cold but I wouldn’t want to ride without them, after riding with them! Flashlight or not I think they provide a lot of benefit
