Beginner Question Thread! 2023 Edition

Idk how other controllers does it. The Solos I think are fine to do it however you want. The D100s is the problematic one.

Why won’t the puck move the board :sob:
It’s all paired up but it has no control over the board and I can’t get into Vesc tool at least through usb becaus me the ports are broken somehow, I do have a metr v1 that I could maybe use?

Hey kids.

What Vesc settings can I try to make my Flipsky 6384 motors less loud and screamy…

190kv. 12s on a Unity.

Anybody have experience with this?

A different Motor or ride below the speed where the resonance scream happens

What changed since you last used it?

I haven’t used it yet, just got puck and full mtb build among stuff I got. Trying to get it all working together.

If you’re connected to metr, go into the expert settings and check for “control type”

Did you do the full vesc tool setup/wizard + input wizard?

I can’t connect to the metr or Vesc tool.

Why not. Details details details

I’m not sure. I’ve got a vx4, puck, and old maytech remote that I tried, all paired with the focbox but they just don’t do anything and there’s no data shown on the vx4 but it shows it’s paired. The metr is plugged in and the focbox’s are connected over can or whatever that is, the metr just doesn’t seem to be getting any power. Plus, I can’t get either focbox to get seen by Vesc tool, I’ve tried different computers, cords and everything. Just doesn’t show up in Vesc tool. I’m guessing both usb mini ports are messed up somehow.

Try with a bluetooth dongle?

So you haven’t done any vesc configuration? Then it’s normal for nothing to work as it’s not plug and play. (As far as remotes and motors go etc)

Metr is connected to the correct port? (Uart) [Edit, yes it seems so) Do any leds light up? (On the metr)

When connecting the focbox to the pc, so you hear windows recognize it at least (usb connecting sound playing)?

Yeah I haven’t been able to get into Vesc tool at all. No there’s not any led on the metr. And I don’t think there is any sound from recognizing the Vesc on my pc.

Then this applies

Do you see any leds on the focbox? Where did you get them from?

Have you tried connecting to both? Do both not get recognized?

I got this big bundle of stuff from a former esk8er that was on the forum, off of fb marketplace. There aren’t leds on the focbox’s, but when I plug in any of the remote receivers, they start flashing color so I assume there is power going through the esc’s. I’ve tried connecting both to Vesc tool, together and separately. I also got another street board with focbox’s too and those blink blue.

My dude. Remotes need programmed in vesc tool to work. You need to set it up so that your skateboard knows what is controlling it and how to respond properly. LEDs lighting up just means it’s getting power. You need to program your esc.

I know, I just don’t know how to do that when the usb port seems to be broken on both and I I can’t get the metr to turn on.

Tried metr on both? Take some pics

Metr, metr cable, metr connector, metr connector on focbox.

Remove cover from focbox, take picture (steady and clear images with proper focus and lighting). Both sides

Did you power them on individually? (Without the CAN connection?)

Were they sold as working? Did you try every cable imaginable? Open device manager on your pc and connect the focbox, does the list refresh?
