Beginner Question Thread! 2023 Edition

I would make a new male jst and solder it with wires to the receiver.

Little tricky though, definitely will take a few beers to steady your hand for that repair

I’m going to need a bit more instruction on how to do that.

Might take you up on that

Too bad I’m underage :stuck_out_tongue:

Mail truck usually shows up in a few hours from now. Let me know and I’ll toss it in an envelope. Never tried anything with firmware on a VX2 though, just the VX4. You might want to look into that first.

That just adds an extra layer of complexity to the issue, its still within reach!

I would personally direct solder it with some nice thin silicone wire then squish some hot glue between the wires to protect it.

I think I’ll take you up on that offer, I’ll need look into firmware updates. Maybe I’ll try to repair the old one in the meantime.

I’m sure there’s a way around this lmao.

I’m not suggesting anything here…

So literally connect each little metal piece coming down the connector to each of the little metal dots on the receiver?

And of course line them up

You can either tin the plug and the pads, place them together and then press on top with a soldering iron but I would solder a piece of wire onto the necessary pads.

  1. Is the VX4 still the best vesc-compatible remote that can show you the speed you’re going? Nothing newer, nothing fancier? Everyone just using that or a puck?
  2. Is the sub 1000$ DIY esk8 category dead? Was talking to @RDs recently about how he has to source used Boardnamics hangers from the US and pay crazy shipping costs just to build a street board. (They’re compatible with cheap caliber baseplates + easy to design mounts for). Seems like Boardnamics is kill, so are there no other options anymore? :exploding_head:

Torqueboards have their CNC trucks I guess… Something with shipping from EU would be great. 3ds and bioboards don’t do narrow hangers it seems, or street hangers at all anymore

Do you guys recommend putting bullet connectors on my balance leads that go to my bms? Or buy a jst kit and use that? About to start wiring up my first 12s lipo pack so just want to make sure whatever i do is “somewhat” standard.

Most keep with the jst for balance leads. Bullets can get bulky and mixed up. Header connectors are just simple and plenty good fornthe task

Does anybody know the dimensions for the Moon Eros rims? Im currently on standard evolve tires but wanna try something with a more square-ish profile (at least 7"/175mm, no offroading) for better grip.

Anybody got recommendations?
