Beginner Question Thread! 2023 Edition

Significant digits don’t apply to a linear conversion. 1000 feet is effectively not equivalent to 300m, it is indeed equivalent to 304.8m. 300m is, in fact, 984 feet, and about 3 and a quarter inches. 26 feet is a rather significant disparity. Furthermore, if the significant digits were one, I’d think you’d have come up with 304 or 305m.

Hi everyone, getting some motivation to finish my build. Got a beginner question about wiring a roll-to-start on VESC MKV.
This is my current setup, using the CANBUS cable from Trampa. I’m not sure how to interpret the Option 3 which is for roll-to-start only (no switch) :

If someone can explain what should be done… Thanks

digits are insignificant, says me. thats like claiming a truck is precision cnced with tollerances of 1mm.

Looks like you just connect the switch pin directly to ground with no switch. This would make the switch constantly on and effectively ignored, then you configure it in software to turn off after X period of time and turn on when the board is rolled.

is ~23Wh/Km about right for 2x FS 6384 on BNM1 drives at 2.78 ratio off of a 12s4p of Lishen LR2170LA and using 150mm pneumatics at max pressure?

depends on how fat you are/fast you ride

i’m about 2 hamsters fat so, no it’s not about right

Seems you’ve offered to do the metric conversions for a while. Thank you!

I weigh about as much as 2 of my board.

Best I can do is >1kg, <100kg

roughly 2 small children

@poastoast last I checked I was like 140-something pounds, I’m asking about efficiency because I’m only getting ~20-25km per charge cycle (85%-15%) my area is absolutely full of hills and bad roads though so that might have something to do with it.

You weigh less than me, bout 25 pounds. Ive also been averaging 23~wh/km. Running a relatively similar setup as well, just 5 inch pneumies and airless. With a full set of the 5 inch pneumies I was averaging 17-18.
So it sounds to me like that’s not too far off from what I’d estimate, at a glance anyways.

damn I wish I was getting 17-18, 5Wh/Km seems significant. that’s like an extra 15% range I guestimate. I guess I’ll have to limit my wheel sizes to <125mm to get the range I expect. ugh I need something to let me run 5" pneumies on a kegel driveteain.

3D Servisas had 48 tooth pullies, not sure if they still do. Run 15T motor pulley, 190 - 215Kv, 42V - 51V

me? what’ll that do?

What is your problem?

Oh I see, you need wheels.
