Battery spot welder needed for dad/son project

Hey everyone! In an effort to keep my kid off video games 24/7 during this stay at home stuff, I’ve been teaching him electric skateboards and putting together a board for him mostly from stuff I’ve had laying around. Need to show him how to build a battery now. Trying to keep this budget friendly, anyone got a spot welder lying around they’re not using anymore and willing to give a good deal ? Thanks !!

Where are you located?

They’re generally around $300 regardless of the make. Kweld is great and available in the us

Yeah, I’m beginning to wish I didn’t get rid of my Sunko.

Get a Maletrics. A tad over $100 and a worthy investment.

https://malectrics.eu/ shipping was pretty fast too.

You might try to find someone to weld up the p-groups for you. I’ll tag in a few SF folks to see if they know someone who might be able to help.

Hard to find people who can do a decent job Around here but @Dred had a pack build by a homie just a couple of months ago

Also @Skyart is in the game. Building packs from scratch

Funny the Hummie board in your Avatar is the one I have.
I was originally going to buy it from you when you had it for sale.
But the guy you sold it to parted it out so I bought the board with the enclosure.

I’ve build a few different style packs in the past, probably shouldn’t have gotten rid of my welder :man_facepalming:
That Maletrics is looking pretty nice

What ?! That’s awesome man ! I kinda regret selling that board, especially after the guy I sold it to told me was gonna gut it. Hope the board is treating you well. That was a really fun build.

The Maletrics is good. I have one that I use a 3s lipo with it. I’ve already built several packs with it.

Definitely leaning that way. Let me know if that board ever goes up for sale :grinning:

Yes he sent a message to me asking if I wanted to buy it.
I told him if he decided to part it out I wanted the board and enclosure and he kept his word and contacted me when he did part it out.
So it’s back in the Bay area.
I guess he knew I was interested in it when you had it for sale.
Unfortunately I couldn’t make it out your way at that moment until later.

It’s a beast. I have the lipo version. Run a 3s3p. Consistent welds, range of motion over box welders, easily portable, around $100. You really can’t beat it. Especially seeing as Boss Level are discontinued.

Get one! Thank us later.

I can’t sell you one, buy happy to weld your p groups and then you can solder the others.

Have a bunch of 30q cells you can borrow and drop ship replacements. Same with wire, shrink fish paper, connectors, focboxes etc. Happy to help a father son project

Hope this father/son bonding time building esk8s works! Otherwise join him at Warzone and pimp your Grau

You can just solder the batteries. You need dremel with rubber sand wheel to clean battery contacts and solder iron with massive tip.
Heat up solder to 450°C and you can tin batteries for 1-2 seconds. Let them cool down and solder wires for no more than 1-2 seconds.
