Bafang 350W 26in hubs from Jag35 / Battery Clearing House

The BCH hubs has a warning label on it that it’s compatible only with disc brakes. If you look at the rims carefully, you will see that they are not rim v-brakes compatible. I actually removed the discs and installed on my bike with front rim brakes only, got the brakes all adjusted, before I realize the BCH Hubs aren’t for rim brakes. The motor weren’t laced into the right type of RIM, so you either change out the front fork, or get the hub motor re-lace into a different rim.

I’ve never used my front brakes on my bike and don’t plan on going too quickly so I had originally intended to just forego the front brakes.

Thank you much for the infos

Finally some inspiration to use those hubs i bought over a year ago

Right? Just need to find a decent frame for cheap now.

Careful using those packs he recommends, the instruction on the bms hibernating is super weird.

Well, that guy seems to be having fun. And likes to live dangerously. No torque arm, no helmet, no bueno. :grimacing: Other than that, nice to see how easily it can be done, if you have all the proper bits and pieces. Looks like he got up over 30mph, which is faster than I thought it would go. Guess it just depends on how much voltage you’re willing or able to give it.

I couldn’t tell if that meter said kmh or mph. I left a comment about the lack of torque arm but pulled the trigger on the controller kit. Need to put these hubs to work!

Good point. I just assumed mph cause 'murica, but the display probably comes set to kph. Video is just blurry enough to be hard to tell conclusively, but kph seems more likely.

Keep us posted on that controller when you get it. :+1:t3:

What purpose does the torque arm serve? Total ebike noob here.

So when you put that motorized hub wheel on the fork, there isn’t anything stopping the axle from slipping and rotating under heavy torque except the standard bike fork nuts. Nuts come unscrewed under torque so the torque arm is too stop the wheel from slipping under load.

Relatively low wattage/torque hubs, can get away without torque arms, as long as your fork is not made of cheese. But torque arms is always the best way to go.

Awesome awesome, I bought some off Amazon last year when there was all that talk on here about torque arms, we’ll see if it works. Torque arm and the nuts on the wheel?

I’m a total ebike noob too, but after learning about why torque arms are used and why they’re needed makes me not want to ride without one. Especially for these front drive wheels. It might not be an issue with these low powered wheels that we have, but if the wheel does spin itself out of the fork, well I don’t want to find out how ugly that scenario could be.

Yep I got one that wraps around the tube of the bike.

Maybe this exact one

Those bafang hubs came with a front and rear wheel, was it only the front that was motorized?

Yes. The rear was not powered, but had some sort of 3 speed manually shifted gears inside.

I only got 2 x of the front wheel motors but it looks like Shawn got you covered.

I keep thinking it would be hilarious to do an electric carriage with them. All fancy and old timey like.

Dude this is actually brilliant someone has to!

Fuck yeah, just got 2 of these beauties unused.

No cute front basket but I’m hoping the controller brick will fit in that nice little square cutout. If not, plenty of room for junk in that trunk.
