Are motors supposed to come with the keyways

Just picked up some maytech motors today and there was no keyway included. Shouldn’t these come with the motors?

No they shouldn’t, if it’s not specially mentioned

Keyways are dirt cheap. Under one dollar sometimes.

Maybe you can share a link @Mainflow ?
That would help a lot.

True. So why don’t they supply them?
I also find this inconvenient. I feel like this is a part of the motor and it should be included.

Luckily @EboardSolutions has always helped me out.

Don’t know why. I’d buy 100 pcs for 10 euros or so

It’s an attachment like the pulley.
How can the motor producer know what kind of pulley you will use?
It makes sense for reseller to include it thou…maybe

for that motor size we use useally 3×3×15

Yeah I did consider this but didn’t think other attachments would need such different kinds of keyway.

Yeah resellers please include it.

Just buy one square rod and you can cut ton of keyways out of it.

I have and they did. Go @dickyho

Wait are we talking about keyways or keys?

My local ace hardware has tons of them in varying sizes. Ace Hardware is heaven.

Yet I have multiple sizes of keys… and pulleys without keyways

I got a couple sealed maytech motors and I could swear they had d shaped shaft and not a keyway. Do they make both?

Yes. I was super confused when I got a D shaped pulley with no space for a key. Then I found a matching motor shaft.

My motors here have a keyway on the shaft for 3x3x15mm.
