When I bought my wheels from aliexpress I opened 1 up and they came way to high pumped and there was a chip straight through the hub and 1 bolt of 1 wheel
I filed a claim for a quarter of my money back and aliexpress grave me like a £2 refund in the end
It was just a really annoying experience
After a 11km trip today i realised the mobile vesc tool says the wh/km in rt data page. Is that value generally the total between both sides of a dual controller, or just half?
It was at 8.8wh/km. Iām a pretty big guy but didnāt have the courage to step on the throttle too much
I finally received my OPUS BT-C3100 v2.2
And on charge test, during the discharging stage, the current switches off and again on every few minutes.
Is this normal?
Testing 4x NCR18650GA each set to 1A.
The first page shows the data only from the connected vesc, the one in the middle shows combined data from both. In your case 8.8wh/km is the total draw from both vescs.
I came across this when upgrading from mono to dual drive.
One thing I also noticed is that I needed to add half of the battery capacity in the motor cfg for both master and slave, this gives me a correct readout of the estimated range. 10Ah battery, 5Ah on the master, 5Ah on the slave.
Not sure about the wizard, try adding the full capacity there and then check the motor cfg afterwards what the value is there.
I havenāt tried the full range yet but I was getting 16-18km with 5Ah mono drive, added 5Ah more and a second motor. Itās showing me an expected range of 38km atm so it seems correct to me.
Edit: this is referring to the android vesc tool, not sure if the desktop one has different values or not
In the tool now. Motor cfg is at 9.000Ah. fresh boot so i donāt have any range estimations.
Also, is there ANY tutorial for the android tool? Half of it seems like menus thrown in thereā¦
As far as I know the Android app should be feature complete with regards to the desktop app.
All the same settings are there just laid out differently. You can scroll the top menu (Start, RT data, Profiles, etc.) to get to the other settings.
The VESC tool will show the settings of the VESC that has the BT dongle attached when it connects, to switch to the other VESC you enable CAN forwarding (Scan CAN bus, click Activate).
When CAN forwarding is enabled essentially the only page you will make changes to is the Motor CFG.
The rest is usually set up correctly if you did the wizard. You might want to make changes in the App CFG as well if you have the BT and remote on different VESCās but I have not tried this since mine are both on the same one (VX1 w/ PWM, nrf51822 module w/ uart)
So just want to make sure Iām not an idiot. I have 4 lipo batteries 6s two in parallel and two in series. When connected to an amazon lipo battery meter, I should only be riding it until 60%, right? Or do the meters account for the usability of lipo batteries and I can actually be riding it down to 0%?
Iām just learning this stuff too, but I wouldnāt rely on a percentage. Does your meter have a voltage reading? Until I get some telemetry set up or a Davega, Iām just bringing a pocket meter with me to check as I get lower on the remote.
@Halbj613
I found that I get voltage spikes when breaking. For 30V it had spikes up to 45V, I immediately stopped braking when on my lab bench psu once I noticed it since itās rated 30V Max.
Of course the spikes could have been even higher, the refresh rate of the segment display on these lab bench PSUs are lazy
Well, there is a 75V rated one⦠But that one scares me off.
The 60V one should be used with up to 12S batteries. If the website of the mind behind all VESCs says so, I would believe his words
