question

I am hesitating between hummie hubs with paris trucks (the normal setup) vs neohub and sr tkp
What would you choose and why? price is not a factor btw, just imagine they are the same price.

  • Hummie Hub w/ Paris
  • neuHUB w/ sr rkp

There is a fair share of DIY evolves around, I have 2 myself. One was just a battery replacement to a 10s5p 30Q and the other is 4wd with only deck and trucks left. The question just comes down to whether you want to gut a working board for just the deck. If you like the deck, you could always purchase a deck only from evolve and build it up from scratch too.

Agree it’s hard to impossible I think to get them perfectly balanced (or anywhere close) to eliminate the wobble but should be able to reduce it significantly at least at lower speeds it shouldn’t be uncomfortable. One other thing is I’m using a loaded deck (icarus) for my pneumatics build and it’s a pretty flexy deck and eats ups any remaining vibrations unless I’m at high speed when I start to notice it again a bit but not noticeable at regular cruising speed for me somewhere around 15mph. For reference using TB pneumatics setup here.

Personally coming from a short deck with urethane on it that was relatively stiff the lower impact vibrations I get from a bit of wheel imbalance on my setup is acceptable but it did take some balancing or else was crazy wobbly even at lower speeds.

@xsynatic i am not sure if you mentioned it. what psi are you tires pumped to? does the wobble intensity change depending on how high/low the tire is pumped?

Agree, but this is not normal. I’ll contact mbs again later asking for help. My wowgo 2s hub board is rougher but i can ride it for way longer. My feet hurt after 5km on the mtb. It feels like those vibrating homesport devices just with less but stronger vibrations. ^^

@PixelatedPolyeurthan i can’t tell you the exact number, i use a bike pump and pump them up until i can press only 1-3mm in on the side (again, can make a video later)

Minimum voltage is ~36v, the headlight I use on my board is 144w and burned out a couple 10A buck converters, I’d rather not spend $400 on a buck converter but I think I found one thats 3x3x2in and it does 20A in a solid aluminium enclosure.

you cant use those hubs on 10mm axles

and I really want to know who voted neo hubs since no one has used them  compared to years of testing with hummie hubs.

Holy shit. 144w of LEDs? That’s 15,000 lumens easily. Why? :joy:

Because the hummie hubs cog too much. :joy: :joy: :joy:

No actually just because I don’t like the feel of paris trucks so I voted rpk lol

I hate darkness with a passion, had too many close calls with raccoon families and an unfortunate loss of a rabbits life to leave it to chance at this point.

Here in Germany Kassel is the HQ of the raccoons.

I mean, I agree with you there, cept I just have a 4k lumen on my board and I hold a 1k flashlight, I’m just curious because I noticed once the board light gets to a certain brightness, it kind of becomes more and more useless due to the fact that it’s so low to the ground, it just throws mad shadows and it’s worthless on any terrain, kinda curious what your experience is with something that bright. Doesn’t most of that light just end up in the sky?

Maybe? the lens of the light itself is over 8 inches in length and it floods really well, its also on a steel support that raises the light up 3-4 inches so its elevated 9-10 inches off of the ground. Its also the only light I have on hand.

Ah, that’s a lot higher off the ground than I imagined. That probably helps a lot.
